Description

The house has been recently reformed to a very high standard, but retains many orignal features, such as original stone walls and beamed ceilings. The property offers an entrance hall, rustic, fully equipped kitchen, with open plan dining and living area. The open plan living area has a wood burner, with wood provided at cost price if required. There is a large double ensuite bedroom, and a further double room and family bathroom. The property offers a roof terrace with views over the village. A perfect place for a get away from modern lifeSituated on a quite street, within the tranquil traditional village of Yator, take a trip back in time to the real Spain. The village is an ideal base for walking holidays throughout Las Alpujarras, close to the GR7 and GR142, with local drop off and pick up for walkers by arrangement. There is a local bar, and watch out for the vans that come to the village selling bread, fish, groceries. frozen foods, and vegetables!! Within 4 kms of the village

Location description from owner

The Andalucia region

Do you want to see Spain as it used to be ? Then come and visit Las Alpujarras. Some of the villages are tourist atractions with the accompanying souviner shops etc, but there are many that are completely undeveloped and retain their tiny white houses, on narrow streets, many of which cannot be access be car. See the flat roofed houses, built the same way as the moors made them 500 years ago! Although electricity came here in the 1970s, and most houses now have mains water and drainage, local people still collect their drinking water from the fountains. Donkeys and mules are still used to transport items through the steep narrow streets and to plough beneath the olive and almond trees. The days are hot in summer and warm the rest of the year (although we do get some rain!). But remember, some of the higher villages are at over 1200m and it gets cold at night in winter, a great opportunity to light the woodburning stove !
