Description

Lie back on the terrace with a Mojito in hand and enjoy some of the most stunning views in Spain - with the mountains behind you and Morocco across the sea in front of you, just listen to the crickets and….relax. Lujar is an ancient village which was on the trading route from Morocco to Granada. Its a typical pueblo blanco perched high in the foothills of the Sierre Nevada and yet only a 15 minute drive to the beach. There is just one lane which winds up from the coast and through the village but the houses are all reached by narrow, cobbled streets wide enough for the donkeys and mules which serve the villagers. There are two bars which both serve food and vans that come each day delivering bread, fish, meat and veg. There are no shops here, though one is being built. There is a spring in the town square for fresh water. Time stands still here. If you are looking for an authentic working village, s real Andalusian experience, come soon - this is a view of life that is disappearing. There

If you are looking for an authentic working village, s real Andalusian experience, come soon - this is a view of life that is disappearing. There are fantastic fiestas though out the year and the people are incredibly friendly. There are dozens of walks around the village in the mountains and we sit on the edge of a huge nature reserve. The Alpajurras are easy to explore from here and you can ski in Granada, a 45 minute drive away or snorkel or swim with dolphins up and down the coast. The beaches are far from what you might expect in Spain, you can find quiet, pebbled coves close by or busier beaches catering for tourists with water ski, pedals etc 30 minutes down the coast. The village has a free swimming pool a few minutes walk from the Casita and a free football pitch, tennis court and basketball court - the only Pueblo with a sea view and a free pool!
