Location description from owner

The England region

This south west county enjoys a milder climate than much of England, and consequently Cornwall has long been a popular all year round self catering holiday getaway. The North Cornwall area provides the best surfing in England, with towns like Newquay, Perranporth, Polzeath, St Ives and Bude filling with enthusiasts every year.

There are scenic towns such as Penzance to explore and delicious Cornish pasties to sample. Cornwall also has Celtic links and the legend of King Arthur which can be explored at Tintagle's castle. If you fancy something a little more refined, the fishing port of Padstow offers the famous seafood restaurant run by chef Rick Stein.

There is excellent walking on Bodmin Moor, domain of the legendary beast, and the coastline is wild and beautiful.

Lanivet

Lesquite Farmhouse has a most attractive setting a short distance down a quiet country lane and just around a corner from an entrance into the wonderful scenery of Redmoor Nature Reserve with its ponds and an abundance of wildlife.

The property faces south and has fine views towards the well known beauty spot of Helman Tor.

Whilst enjoying such an attractive country setting, the property is within a short drive of the B3268 road between the larger centre of Bodmin to the north and the attractive small town of Lostwithiel to the south and is less than ten minutes drive for its junction with the A30 trunk road dual carraigeway giving quick access to Exeter in less than one hour and other parts of the county.

The property is about a twenty minute drive only from the coastal town of Fowey. Close by and leading over the top of Helman Tor is the Saints Way, an old path dating back to the middle ages extending from Fowey to the south through to the harbour town of Padstow on the north Cornwall coast.

“WOW”

we arrived early and a quick phone call to the owner gave us an in time so a day out driving around sight seeing , at 4 we arrived at the house and were greeted by the owners, a quick tour and phone numbers exchanged if we needed anything, i found the owners to be very helpful with ideas on where to go , local shops and walks ect the garden is a private home and is so much better that the usual clinical type holiday homes, this one did feel like home , rooms are big so ideal for large family's or those wanting room.kitchen is wonderful ,loads of room and everything you might need ( couldn`t find the knife sharpener lol),living room is comfortable and huge and if you like your big screens there is a huge drop down screen ( our kids watched one film ), up stairs are 2 large rooms one smaller double and a wonderful kids room with 2 single begs in , my kids loved this drop floor room and want me to redo our house to include a room like this.Father in law had the downstairs bedroom with en suit as he is not so good on stairs, this he loved as it was easy for him to enjoy his holiday, the make up of the house is dominated by huge granite blocks and these kept the house at just the right temp, during the spring and autumn i would think the house might be a little cold but it would not be a problem as there in the massive fireplace is a modern wood burner and a supply of logs ( we didnt use the fire) also the house has a state of the art wood pellet boiler and so there is hot water by the bath-full on tap and within 5 mins of turning the heating on the house is warm and toasty, the house also has a solar system to help be more green and efficient. Outside is the garden , huge with local wildlife coming into the garden in the mornings, a large fishpond with many fish ( mind if you have young children) my two loved having the responsibility of feeding the fish. In the distance you can see the tor from the garden and most of the windows , IT IS A MUST to take the lane past the house and follow the foot path to the tor , around 2 miles i would guess with a climb at the end ( i think you can drive to the foot of the tor) the views are worth ever step. sorry for the long review but you might guess i and my family loved the place and would highly recommend it to any one .

“Beautiful from start to finish”

We stayed here as a group of 7 adults all family members and were looking for a break away and time to catch up as a family in beautiful surroundings - Lesquite did not disappoint at all! The hosts themselves are so welcoming and from the time of booking were available for any questions and indeed during the stay we knew they were available at any time but gave us complete privacy to enjoy their beautiful home. The house itself is very well equipped, all kitchen equipment etc is provided so no need to over pack! The log burners - one in the living room one in the kitchen diner were fabulous for evening time and really added to the cosy atmosphere of the house. The photos don't do the grounds justice, there is so much outdoor space and seating - you can escape to the bottom of the garden with a book and enjoy the swing chairs or have more sociable spaces towards the house - plenty of room for all. The bedrooms were all gorgeous - we have some very fussy sleepers and all commented on how comfy the beds were! the Master suite is truly stunning but it must be said the views from all rooms (including the bathroom!) are gorgeous. We hope to return next year as it really has been a special time for my family, thank you Nick and Michael for a really great holiday. We hope to see you soon. xx
