Location description from owner

The Brittany region

There are many nearby medieval and historic towns (e.g. Josselin, Auray, Rochefort-en-Terre, La Glacilly) and tourist attractions (e.g. ancient villages [i.e. Poul Fetan, Melrand An Mil]; Museum of the Breton Resistance; Dutch East Indie Company Museum; Bicycle Museum, Salmon Farm, Crafts at Pont Scorf; National Haras, and numerous animal farms and zoos).

Local markets include: Auray, Baud, Bubry, Carnac, Hennebont, Quistinic, Plouay, Vannes, Lorient etc.

Over the summer there is also a number of local festivals including the large InterCeltic Festival.

The Blavet River is famous for its fishing. On the river there are pedaloes, kayaking and a sightseeing boat. Within several minutes driving distance there are various attractions, including: go-karting; heated swimming pool with watersports facilities; forest adventure park; tennis courts; and water sports in the largest lake in Brittany. The area is wonderful for ramblers, bird watchers, golfers and there are spectacular beaches and islands to visit that are not too far away.

Pontivy, Josselin, and Vannes are attractive and well preserved medieval towns. Auray has quaint cobbled streets, excellent shops, and a picturesque harbour area. La Trinité Sur Mer is a beautiful yachting town which is buzzing in summer.

Locmariaquer is a gorgeous peninsula, with several small port areas and lovely beaches, numerous megalithic sites - take a boat cruise to explore the numerous islands in the Golfe de Morbihan.

Carnac has good beaches for swimming, a long promenade next to the beach and its centre is set up for the tourist in summer with many interesting shops and eating places. Canac is also famous for its important site in the Ancient World - the Megalithic stones which run for miles and some say are better than Stonehenge!

Drive on to the Quiberon Peninsula along the wild "Cote Sauvage" on the Atlantic side. There are many pretty villages as you drive around the peninsula. On Quiberon's leeward side relax on the beaches with calmer water.
