Situated in rural Somerset on the Somerset Levels, eight miles from Bridgwater, the home of Carnival and eight miles from Glastonbury, its Tor, chalicel well and many interesting esoteric shops and of course Clarks shopping village at Street, a great place to pick up a bargain.

A little further afield is Burnham on sea and Weston super mare, both have lovely wide sandy beaches with lots of entertainment. In land from there can be found Wookey Hole and its famous Witch and close by the famous Cheddar Gorge and caves.

One hours drive from us and you are in the fashionable city of Bristol with its historic dockland and many museums and fabulous shopping.

We have Taunton Racecourse half an hour drive from us, Honiton with its famous lace, 40 minutes drive away and Exeter with its historic shopping centre 50 minutes drive away.

Ten miles away we have Yeovil and Yeovilton air base where many air shows take place and the famous Fleet Air Arm museum.

In the village can be found a pub serving really good value meals and two miles into Langport there is a Tesco supermarket, chemist, doctors, dentist, newsagents, pubs, bakery, chinese takeaway, fish and chips, hairdresser and pet shop/veterinary clinic.

The farmhouse is an Ideal base for walking and birdwatching. The area has three RSPB sites and on most days you can see Swans, buzzards, woodpeckers, pied wagtails, herons, barn owls, little egrets and not forgetting the re-introduced Cranes that call as they fly past.

Location description from owner

The England region

We are situated in the heart of the Somerset levels in an ancient village called Aller. Here Guthrum was baptised after he had been defeated by King Alfred the Great after the Battle of Ethandun in 878. The possible font used for the baptisim was probably a limstone bowl similar to the one that we have here in the village church of St Andrews, dating from around 12th and 13th century and well worth a visit.

The village has a recreational playing field with recreational equipment for children to use and a basketball hoop in a dutch barn.

We have a local village pub, The Old Pound where you can buy very good meals at reasonable prices.

Just up the road we have 'Jims cider shack' where you can purchase homemade cider and a selection of other gifts such as cheeses and biscuits.

The village also has a very popular swimming pool - The Dragon Pool that can be hired for private swimming should you wish to use the facility for this, or you can book to go along for a swim at any other time.

The weather here on the levels is generally a few degrees higher than local temperatures given on the news as we are only a few metres above sea level.

Langport

The area around Langport is central to both the M5 and the A303 giving motorists an opportunity to access the south coast, north coast and out across Dartmoor and Exmoor down to Devon and Cornwall. The area is rich in history and has many local attractions such as, Cheddar caves, Wookey Hole, Burnham on sea, Weston Super Mare, Bristol, Minehead and Porlock, Dunster Castle, Street shopping outlet centre, Glastonbuty and its Tor and much much more.

There are many walks around the area with plenty of wildlife to see and watch with RSPB reserves close by.

In the summer months we have many shows and displays going on each weekend and a trip to Bath only 35 miles away makes for a enjoyable end to a hectic week.

Not forgetting that we have many festivals in and around Glastonbury and Bridgwater with the famous carnival in November with its 'squibbing'.

Taunton has many well known shops and is an ideal place to eat and relax.
