The Saint George Parish region

Grenada is popularly known as "The Spice Isle" because of the abundance of locally grown spices and a culture of music, dance and food. In fact, there are many more spices per square mile in Grenada than any other place in the world. Not only does the 'Spice Isle' produce nutmeg, mace, cinnamon, ginger and cloves, this lush land of mountains, rainforests, waterfalls and secluded beaches has also given birth to an intriguing history and people. Hummingbird Villa at Amber Belair puts all that Grenada has to offer at your fingertips.

Grenada also has a very lively nightlife. There are many restaurants, bars and clubs open till the early hours of the morning, which offer good music and drinks at a relaxing West Indian pace.

Lance aux Epines

L'Ance Aux Epines is a short distance from the famous Grand Anse Beach with it's good restaurants and lively bars. St George, the capital of Grenada, is only 15 minutes away by either car or bus.

Car hire is essential.

“Grenada Paradise - spectacular location with every amenity close at hand”

Reviewed 29 Apr 2012

This is a luxurious villa well positioned on a headland with 180 degree views over the Caribbean, in a private setting in well screened gardens. The villa is large with comfortable rooms, large bedroooms with spacious dressing areas and bathrooms. A particular feature is the covered verandah and terrace around the private infinity-edge pool. with three bedrooms on one floor, and two on another, the villa is ideal for extended groups, or two families sharing. Within walking distance is a private floodlit tennis-court, and the amenities of the Calabash Hotel, with its private beach and watersports, and the Gary Rhodes restaurant. THe beach bar and restaurant are excellent with very friendly staff although service can be slow - but then who is in a hurry in the Caribbean? We were two families with children ranging from 11 to 21 and everyone was happy. Plenty of room for the teenagers to take themselves off to do their own thing. We spent quite a lot of time relaxing in the house, reading, working (revision for exams mostly) playing cards, cooking (excellent barbecue) and using the pool for hours on end. The TV was switched on once during our ten days for a football match as everyone seemed happy with all the other forms of entertainment available. We made use of the canoeing and diving facilities in the bay at the Calabash and some members of the party used the gym and pool table at the hotel. There is fabulous spa attached to hotel with amazing position just a short walk down the hill overlooking the bay where you lie having your massage looking out over the beach through the open sided very cool wooden and glass building perched on the hillside. Maid service was excellent and we loved having our breakfast cooked for us every day. Especially enjoyed all the local fresh fruit. Pool service and gardening staff were also regular and reliable. Kitchen and laundry services in the house were extensive. The dryer was not working during our stay, but this was not a major problem as there are extensive indoor and outdoor drying rack facilities and dryer was due to be fixed shortly after we left. Few minor problems such as a leaking window were addressed immediately by the housekeeping staff. Really could not fault their attention to detail. We would recommend hiring a car for easy access to the restaurants, supermarkets and beaches about 10 minutes away on the edge of St Georges or at the marina just the other side of the beach below the villa. Also very useful for getting up and down the hill to the hotel. Other attractions on the island, including the charming town of St George's, the secluded La Sagesse beach resort, and numerous beaches and restaurants, are within easy distance. An ideal location for a Caribbean holiday. We would particularly recommend La Luna and the marina at Le Phare Bleu restaurants for good food with excellent ambiance. We had a fantastic holiday in this villa and would highly recommend it to anyone. Everyone returned home feeling extremely relaxed and agreed that we would all like to return as soon as possible.
