Location description from owner

The Scotland region

The Roost is located near to junctions 11/12 of the M74 meaning it has quick and easy access to Scotland main road network. This is why so many guests have used it as a base when visiting the cultural and historical sites of Central and Southern Scotland. Glasgow is only 30 mins north, Stirling 45 Minutes North East, Edinburgh 1 hr east, The Borders 35 mins east, England 1 Hour south, Ayr 1 hour West. The Roost is in the middle of them all.

These parts of Scotland are home to many of it's most iconic sites....the castles of Edinburgh, Culzean, Stirling, Drumlanrig, Bothwell to name but a few. Fascinating collections of art and artifacts at The Burrell Collection, Kelvingrove Museum, .....the home of Mackintosh and his wonderful buildings at House for an Artlover and Glasgow School of Art....the natural beauty of The Falls of Clyde and the World Heritage Site of New Lanark that sits alongside. Only half an hour east are the Scottish Borders where you can visit Traquair House, Melrose Abbey and Abbotsford (the home of Sir Walter Scott). Half an hour west and you are in Burns Country where you can visit Burns Cottage and Museum or the magical Brig o Doon. There are literally 100's of things to see and do

Lanark

The Roost is part of Craigend B&B which is located in Westoun in South Lanarkshire. The Original house dates back to 1730 when the area was a large landed farming estate. Westoun is a rural area, surrounded by rolling countryside which is home to deer, badgers and birds of prey. Nearby are the villages of Douglas, Lesmahagow and Coalburn all suitable for convenience stores and the nearest supermarket is just 10 mins drive away. Just 20 mins away are the towns of Lanark and Hamilton providing a wider choice of shops and restaurants.

Westoun is unique in that it feels like it is in the middle of nowhere, but shops and restaurants are just a short drive away, as is the M74 motorway
