The Western Cape region
The Western Cape draws millions of visitors each year to a seemingly small area if compared with other provinces in South Africa, but one that is so beautiful that it can’t help the distinct attention it draws.
Affixed to the tip of Africa as it is, the Western Cape lies bordered by two oceans - the Indian Ocean to the south and the Atlantic to the west - which goes a long way to clarify its allure.
The wild Cape Agulhas coast, the extraordinary magnificence of the Garden Route, the sparse and sweeping stretches of sand, punctuated by rocky outcrops and small fishing villages, of the West Coast notwithstanding, it is not the coastline alone that draws the crowds.
The constant reassuring presence of immense peaks form the stunning backdrop to a land so lovely in parts that the emerald lakes and indigenous forests of the Wilderness, the sun-drenched vineyards of the Cape Winelands, the magnificent passes to reach the interior of the region, and the wide, windswept arid spaces of the Klein Karoo seem part of a fantasy landscape that often defies description.
Cape Town, Mother City of Africa, and the Western Cape, is an area which is regarded as one of the most beautiful regions in the world. The City is a rare cultural gem, resulting from the amalgamation of Indonesian, French, Dutch, British and German settlers, the local Bushman and Hottentot tribes and the Bantu tribes from the north.
The impressive presence of Table Mountain, flanked by the legendary Devil's Peak and historical Signal Hill, stands proudly above the city. Beautiful white sandy beaches along a peaceful coastline frame the Cape Peninsula, which is famed for its unique floral kingdom, bountiful rivers, vleis and dams and magnificent countryside.
The surrounding area extends far into the winelands, green in summer and red-gold in autumn.
Cape Town boasts a multitude of entertainment, ranging from outdoor activities and adventures in the sun to a roaring night life under neon signs. The vast range of shopping opportunities includes haggling with shopholders at Greenmarket Square Flea Market, as well as breezing through sophisticated and stylish shopping malls. The huge variety of restaurants reflects the multi-cultured history of the Cape and caters for everyone's taste, from fast-food outlets and casual to the chic to the very elegant.
Cape Town provides a setting for many scenic wonders, magnificent seascapes and panoramic vistas. The beautiful coastal areas are surrounded by unspoilt mountains covered in flora and forna.
Cape Town is a city of culture, built on a history that reflects in the architecture, cuisine, music and dance. Together with a warm summer and temperate winter climate and a friendly community, the Western Cape and the Mother City are an ideal holiday destination throughout the year.

"A unique oasis"
What a stunning view, day and night! An amazing wooden cabin on the side of the mountain overlooking both the sea at False Bay and the tropical forests of Table Mountain. Romantic meals on the outside veranda a must!! Coming from overseas (UK), we found it perfect as a touring base. Cape Town and its Waterfront is a few minutes easy drive (except before 9.00 am when traffic is heavy). The local False Bay coast is awash with beautiful eating venues and only minutes away. A gourmet's paradise, if you like a wide range of seafood and thick juicy steaks. Cape Point is a wonderful, easy drive from this base and the winelands of Stellenbosch and Franschoek are also easy to reach without having to drive via the City. The owner, Anthony, is a British guy and we found him incredibly helpful and keen to please. Nothing was too much trouble. The cabin is very secure and we always felt totally safe. It's situated in a lovely small residential area, close to an excellent, but smallish shopping mall (with easy parking) that includes a Woolworths Food Store and a nice restaurant for breakfast, lunch and early evening light meals. The Cabin is well equipped and surprisingly spacious. We were delighted to find that it has a free, strong wi-fi signal, as well as TV with DSTV (satellite), also a CD player. The sizeable bathroom has a really powerful shower and lots of hot water! Stacks of clothes cupboards and other storage space in the cabin. The kitchen was adequate for most requirements. A very comfortable king size bed meant we had no problems sleeping well. The garage was a real bonus. We can thoroughly recommend this unique facility and will definitely book it again when we return to Cape Town.
Thanks you so much for these very sweet words Brian, it's very kind of you to take the time. It was a pleasure having you and we very much look forward to meeting again. All the best, Ant.

"99% perfect for us"
We have been visiting Cape Town from the UK for 30 years, and this is not only the perfect location but also has the perfect view. We spent 5 wonderfull weeks here and will be returning again next year. Ant is the perfect host too. The only downside would be the outside steps - no problem if you are fit. Also you need to be confident driving in and out of the garage which is at the top of a very steep drive-way.
