Fully air-conditioned, this brand new spacious penthouse apartment(165 sq metres) is located in the exclusive Quinta das Palmeiras complex in historic Lagos. Three balconies (80 sq metres) have views to the Marina from the front. The third balcony, which spans the full width of the apartment overlooks the old town and has access from the kitchen, the dining room and the master bedroom. There is an electric awning over the outdoor dining area for shade while eating or relaxing.
This extensive apartment has generous living and dining space with seating in the dining room for 8 people and in the kitchen for 6 people. Al fresco dining is also catered for with a table and chairs on the terrace and there is a BBQ on the kitchen terrace. An electric awning covers the outdoor dining area.
Our first visit to Lagos was on a family holiday, with an age profile stretching from five month to fifty plus ! What brings us back year after year is that there is something for everyone in Lagos !
Location is everything when it comes to holidays and the location of the apartment means everything is on your doorstep, all within 5 to 15 minutes walk.
A car is not really necessary for a stay here - the local Onda bus service, with a stop outside Quinta das Palmeiras, will take you to the beaches and villages nearby on a regular and frequent basis throughout your holiday. Take a look at www.aonda.pt for routes. Casa das Palmeiras is the stop next to the apartment.

The fully fitted separate kitchen, with granite work-tops and cream gloss units, has everything one could need including a washing machine; dishwasher; microwave; central vacuum system and also a table with six chairs.
A TV (50 inch Plasma) showing in superb quality the main UK channels (BBC;ITV;C4) and a large range of satellite channels. DVD player and radio/CD player also provided. Video security system is in place with lifts from the basement garage directly to the door of the penthouse.
The master bedroom, with two sets of double doors to the terrace has it's own private bathroom with a jacuzzi bath and bidet. Extensive storage is provided in this, and also in the other two bedrooms with fitted wardrobes and drawer units. Bedroom number two also has double doors to a separate private balcony overlooking the pool.
Given the layout of the apartment, various sleeping options are possible so please feel free to discuss these so preparations can be made before your arrival to match your requirements.
A travel cot, with generous five inch mattrass, a high chair and other baby essentials are provided - it helps not having to pack the kitchen sink !
Secure storage and parking (for up to three) cars, sports or sailing equipment available in the basement. For the golfers among you, secure storage of your clubs is possible for the duration of your stay.

The complex comes complete with an Outdoor swimming pool and also an Indoor Health Centre containing a pool and jacuzzi. There is a Children's play area and also an on-site cafe called Cafe Fresco which serves delicious home-cooking all day.
Shopping for groceries is not a chore here as the new, extremely well-stocked Pingo Doce supermarket is two minutes walk away or, do as the locals do, and take a stroll to the town's famous indoor food market to stock up on fresh fruit, vegetable, meat and of course the locally caught fish. There is also an Aldi about seven minutes walk from the apartment and a number of large hypermarkets a short drive away.

The apartment is located in a quiet area with no neighbouring late night bars or sources of disturbance - a good night's sleep is guaranteed. Electric shutters on all windows and balcony doors guarantee quiet nights and long lie-ins.
Our local agent who is from Lagos will be at the apartment to meet and greet you. He will present you with our complimentary Welcome Pack and explain how everything in the apartment works - air conditioning; garage access; electrical appliances etc. He will also be available for transport to and from the airport, at a discounted rate and there for you throughout your stay in the event of any problems arising.
The Algarve region
The Western Algarve is a superb holiday destination and is now popular all year round. The summer months are busier but even in winter there is a lively atmosphere to the town with most restaurants staying open for business. Of course, the 300 days of sunshine and mild winters have a lot to do with this - even in November or February it is possible to enjoy your lunch outdoors. Golf clubs abound as do unspoilt sandy beaches and there are many places of interest nearby. Continuing westwards to the most westerly point of Europe at Cape St Vincent is a must - as are trips to places such as Silves and Sagres with their castles and cathedrals. Inland there are many undiscovered gems such as the traditional village of Monchique.
Lagos is a picturesque town which retains it's authentic Portuguese charm. Steeped in history and protected by its 16th century walls, a huge amount of resources have been concentrated in the past couple of years in the restoration of the ancient ramparts found at the mouth of the river. While Lagos caters very well for it's visitors it is essentially a real town and one the locals will tell you is a very attractive place to live with a vibrant cultural dimension all year-round.
The Marina, with it's bars, restaurants and opportunites for 'people watching' is five minutes walk from the apartment. This is the perfect spot to dine or just relax with your favourite tipple while the kids have an icecream - there is no better vantage point to watch the glorious sunsets Lagos is famous for - being almost at the most westerly point of all of Europe. Here too you can embark on a cruise of the coast; try some deep-sea fishing or learn to sail while on holiday.
Equally close is the beach at Meia Praia - 5 kms long and also walking distance from the apartment (about fifteen minutes) but, if that's too much effort (you are on holiday !), take the Onda ! or the local open train which circles the town all day long.
The beach at Meia Praia never gets over-crowded but has everything the active beach-goer might want - para-gliding; banana boats; wind-surfing; watersking - or just a walk by the water's edge along the 5k of sandy spotless Blue Flag beach.
The town is a ten minute stroll from the apartment, along the riverside and has much to offer all ages - from the colourful Carousel in the Square to the endless dining options along the old streets and later, lively bars to keep the party animals among you happy.
Families can find fantastic days out which are both fun and educational, such as Zoomarine - a marine life theme park with dolphin and sea lion shows and even a unique chance to swim with the dolphins. Dolphin Safaris - a chance to watch whales and dolphins in their natural habitat, 3 departures daily (5min from apartment). Jeep safari, a chance to experience the wild rugged inland Algarve with guides that pride themselves on their unrivalled knowledge of the area with lunch included (chicken piri piri mountain style). Slide & Splash Europe's largest water park. Extreme sports...sky diving, kite surfing, surfing, wind surfing, downhill mountain biking, kayaking and many more.

"Fantastic Lagos Apartment"
We stayed in this beautiful, well appointed 3 bed apartment for one week. On arrival we were met by Rui who set up the TV and wifi and left us with wine, milk, water, bread etc which was very much appreciated. We stay in holiday rentals often and have rarely had a complimentary welcome pack included. The apartment is in a good location for both the marina and old town and was absolutely spotless. The bedrooms are large and the beds very comfortable. The electric shutters and air conditioning were a necessity even in October with very high temperatures for the week that we were there. The owner of the apartment, Aileen, is very professional in all communications which left us feeling very secure about our booking, and the detailed directions she provided were invaluable as we didn't have sat nav. We enjoyed a relaxing time in Lagos and our holiday was made very special due to the high standard of this rental.

"Lovely comfortable apartment in an excellent location for all ages"
The apartment is well decorated, well equipped, really spacious, lives up to the photos - you won't be disappointed. It is in a small complex with indoor and outdoor pool and gym, and with everything else you could want a short walk away. The town (5 mins walk) has lots of shops and restaurants (and bars for our older children (18-19)). The supermarket next door was so convenient - they also did hot food take out, so if we didn't feel like cooking we could go and get a couple of cooked chickens and some salad. The beach was also within walking distance, but as it was very hot when we were there we tended to stick to the pool. Wifi access was good - an essential for the teenagers. Altogether, we had a really good holiday, and the comfort and spaciousness of the apartment, and easy access to everything else made it harmonious and relaxing for all.

"Fantastic apartment in quiet but central location."
The apartment is superb - it made our holiday. Beautifully presented and tastefully decorated with everything we needed. It was huge so even with an extended family of 7 we had plenty of room and it never felt crowded. Access to the apartment is secure. We made use of all the facilities, outdoor and indoor pools and the gym. We also ate at the on site Cafe where the choice of home cooked food is extensive, tasty and reasonably priced. There is also a great supermarket almost next door. When we wanted to venture further afield the town or marina are only a few minutes walk away with plenty of shops, restaurants and bars. The lovely beach is well worth the 15 minute walk. From time of booking until our arrival, Aileen kept in touch and answered any queries we had very promptly. We were met on arrival by Rui as arranged and shown around the apartment. Should we return to Lagos, we'd love to stay here again and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the apartment.

"An oasis at the days end."
Palmeiras is a well designed and managed urbanisation. Our apartment was situated on the top floor, giving exceptional views of Lagos along with the very essential cooling afternoon breezes. All rooms were spacious and with three outside decks, couples could enjoy absolute privacy. Any small problems that arose were quickly delt with by our host's manager who worked nearby. The apartment was central to everything, bus station, Saturday's market, the supermarket and numerous cafes, all a couple of minutes walk away. We loved our six months in Lagos and never tired of this apartment.

"Penthouse Apartment, Lagos, Portugal"
This was our second stay in Lagos and just as lovely. A beautiful apartment, well appointed and handy for town, marina and the beach. Fresco Cafe on the ground floor is a 'must visit' especially the Thursday Supper Night - excellent ! Rui met us on behalf of the owners and gave us 'the low down' in the apartment and was at the end of the phone if we needed anything. He also came to ensure we were collected by the taxi on our return to Faro airport. Excellent customer service. Thanks to Aileen and Gerald for allowing us to take advantage of this lovely property.

"Great location for young or old"
We had a really nice stay in this apartment. It was very clean, extremely spacious, and had a good location. We were a party of 7 , the oldest being almost 80 and the youngest had just turned 3. It was important that it had ease of access and Lagos could be navigated without going up and down too many hills, which this location provided. The facilities were used and enjoyed also. All in all we had a great holiday and this apartment comes recommended by us .

The apartment is everything it says it is. Smart, clean, tidy and bags of space. Sun in the morning, afternoon and evening. Glimpses of the Marina, a short walk away, and town with is varoius restaurants and market, is10 minutes flat walking away. UK TV is a benefit for thoise who want to keep up with the news, and WIFI for €20 per week. A supermarket at ground floor level, supplying all your needs and a couple of local bars/restaurants were can appreciate how "cheap" Potugal is in comparrison to the UK

Good modern apartment. Spacious and good balconies with open views out. Great location for town and supermarket right next door. Rui and Aileen both great at dealing with the booking and arrivals process. Parking and lift made access easy.

"Really spacious, excellently equipped and comfortable apartment."
Lagos is a lovely town, especially good for the slower but more refined pace of holidaymaking. That's not to say that its full of doddery old people... certainly not, but if your the type of people who do not enjoy overtly seasidy places, rammed full of tat shops, selling everything predominately for the beach, combined with burger filled snack bars,... then stay to the east of Alvor. Our stay in this apartment was for 5 weeks in spring 2012. This apartment is superb to enjoy a good mixture of holiday activities, split between great local beaches, sightseeing around the Algarve or like us, for simply switching off from the world. The sunshine is available most of the day at the apartment because of it's 2 terraces, and in the evening a bbq on one of the terraces can round off the day perfectly. Comfy sunbeds are laid out on the terraces too. An outdoor pool and sunterrace looked great from the balcony, but being only spring we did'nt take advantage of it. The old/interesting walled town part of Lagos is only a matter of a pleasant 10 minutes gentle stroll from the apartment, and it literally explodes into dozens of really nice but mostly inexpensive eating places, which spill out into the labrynth of traffic free streets, giving an opportunity to eat late, and in ancient charming old lantern lit street environments. Being on the 5th floor, the apartment is quiet and not overlooked. The lift serves the garage, and is located right outside the entrance door...(there is no lift noise whatsoever.) We stayed here for 5 weeks in Spring 2012, and were able to live as though we were at home, such is the extent of the facilities, equipped one assumes by people who also like to live here as if at they were at home too. It is certainly not a half hearted holiday flat-let, its a 'home from home', a spacious place to enjoy in its own right.. We really liked it, as did friends who popped over from the UK to spend a little time with us. The new marina area is also only a 5 min stroll for keen landlubber sailors like us to walk to, and enjoy a drink or something to eat, and work out the prices of some of the gorgeous yachts moored there I could get to and from the nearest supermarket shop ( Pingo), with freshly baked bread almost before my wife had boiled the kettle. and the Lidl store is also walkable in 5 mins. Nothing adverse to report at all. K & PC Worcestershire.
