FOR REVIEWS PLEASE LOOK UP 'RURAL TRANQUILITY PRIVATE BALCONY' MY GITE NEXT DOOR WHICH IS VERY SIMILAR IN CHARACTER, LESS THE ROOF TERRACE.

Escape to the tranquility of this lovingly restored home in the foothills of the French Pyrenees. Situated in a peaceful French hamlet, 600 m above sea level, my home makes for a perfect base from which to explore the wild and beautiful Ariege. Romantic, magical and calm, come, let go, unwind and relax.

Over a decade Leela has been sensitively restored using ecological building techniques and materials. Roof top yoga is available and retreats can be assisted if required.

Leela resonates a beautiful energy, full of light and warmth; cosy in winter and cool in summer. The old wood and natural stone are offset by the beautiful curves of the simple plastered stone walls.

The ground floor is made up of a large open plan kitchen dining area, with woodburning stove for the colder months. The kitchen is well equipped

The kitchen is well equipped with small electric oven, 5 gas rings, washing machine, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, breadmaking machine, rice maker, juicer, iron, ironing board, blender and 12 complete place settings. Please enquire if anything else is needed.

The living room is light and peaceful with large windows and balcony overlooking the forested valley. There is an antique desk positioned with views over the valley and plenty of light. A perfect spot for writing. On the north side of the first floor is a second bedroom, with a single bed and a sleeping platform, best adapted for youngsters.

The master bedroom is high up on the second floor. The entire south wall of the bedroom is glass and opens onto a large private covered balcony, with breathtaking views over the enchanting, ever changing valley below. There is a daybed on the balcony which is perfect for siestas and a low table and chairs where I eat most meals. Passing through a stone opening from the bedroom, there is a bathroom, bright sitting area with sofa bed and the fabulous roof top terrace. This is a wonderful, totally private space, away from prying eyes.

Location description from owner

The Occitanie region

Situated in the midst of the Séronais National Park, Leela lies between Foix and St Girons, conveniently placed close to some of the most spectacular views of the Pyrenees and to many of the attractions mentioned above.

Within a radius of 30 minutes from Leela there is:

Foix, with its magnificent castle and various museums; St LizierCathedral, a UNESCO site, St Girons with one of France's most colourful, vibrant markets; Golf de Ariège, a challenging and beautiful course; Le Maz D'Azil with its impressive grotto and buzzing market; Labouiche, Europe's longest underground river trip; Merens Equestrian centre; the cycle path from Foix to St Girons, rivers and lakes to swim in and many walks to explore.

Laborie

Laborie is a very peaceful hamlet set in the midst of forested hills, away from the sound of traffic and the bustle of modern life. There are a few horses, a small flock of goats, a couple of pigs and some chickens who add to the population of 12 inhabitants. There is fresh goats cheese for sale in the village for 8 months of the year and the possibility of taking part in milking, collecting the goats in the evening etc. It is rare to find such a quiet and relaxing environment to unwind.

“A beautiful house in a stunning setting.”

Reviewed 3 Jan 2017

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Laborie. From the moment we booked with Sarah did everything to make us feel welcome including giving us plenty of information about what there was to do in the area and how things worked in her home. She even arranged for her kind friend and neighbour to have fires ready for us when we got there. The house was very well equipped, including a very good wi-fi signal. The whole experience was fantastic from the beautiful house to the stunning setting with views of the mountains. We would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to get away from it all, relax in a gorgeous house and explore a stunning area.

Thank you very much for your lovely comments. I am so pleased that you enjoyed the stay.
