The Murcia region
The La Manga Club resort is located on the south eastern coastline named the Costa Calida (the warm coast) and offers spectacular coastal views and a perfect climate for both winter and summer breaks.
The local area boasts access to both the wide expanse of the Mediterranean and the calmer, enclosed waters of Mar Menor which is ideal for watersports enthusiasts. The Mar de Cristal beach in particular is excellent for families as the water is generally very tranquil and warm, only 10 minutes drive from the resort.
Close by there is the Calblanque beach which is an area of conservation, remaining in its original, untouched form, making it an ideal picnic spot.
The nearby fishing village of Cabo de Palos offers a variety of small restaurants, bars and cafes as well as a picturesque harbour and lighthouse.
The nearest large town is Cartagena, a 20 minute drive from the resort, which offers great historical interest and an abundance of shops.
The regional city of Murcia, only a further 20 minutes along the motorway, has a water park, zoo and more great shopping opportunities.
La Manga Club
La Manga Club is one of the worlds leading Sport and Leisure Resorts. It is located within 1400 acres tucked into the Murcian hillside, overlooking the clear waters of Mar Menor.
This luxury resort has 3 championship golf courses, a marvellous Par 47 pitch and putt facility and 28 tennis courts. In addition there are top quality football and cricket facilities which are used all year round by a selection of top professional teams from Europe.
The renowned Tennis and Golf Academies offer first class tuition all year round and there are additional academies operating for children and young adults during the school holidays which also also include football, cricket, rugby and dance.
La Manga Club also offers a large number of additional leisure activities including mountain biking, horse riding, diving, sailing and beautiful walks in the surrounding countryside.
The luxurious La Manga Club Spa offers a large heated indoor pool, a state of the art gymnasium, steam and sauna rooms and private treatment rooms.
There is an excellent all year round children's club covering a wide range of ages (3mos to 12yrs) and many different activities.
Within the resort there is a huge variety of restaurants, bars, cafes and boutiques and has its own supermarkets, banks, chemists and doctor's surgery.
Las Brisas is mix of individual villas and smart townhouses situated in quiet, pretty cul-de-sacs with an abundance of palm trees, making it the ideal getaway location within the resort.

"Lovely villa, delightful location, super facilities. Everything we needed!"
We stayed as two families (with kids 9,11,12 & 14) in August '12. The villa is in the pretty landscaped Las Brisas neighbourhood, with its distant views and the welcome breezes that give this area of La Manga its name. Off a quiet side road, the villa is set around a fabulous hotel-sized pool (a neighbour told us the original plan was to build a hotel at the site, but the developer changed plans to the delightful villa complex instead!), which never got even remotely busy while we were there, despite August High Season. Many of the traditional-style villas around the pool appear owned by full-time residents, and everything was very house-proud, beautiful gardens etc. Large areas of open or partly shaded terracing around the shared pool for sunbathing. The 3-storey villa itself has a great mix of space. A well-fitted kitchen, very Spanish, tiled etc., but with a whopping American fridge freezer that is SO useful (and absent from every other villa we have ever stayed at!) A large, cool, lounge/diner, covering most of the Ground Floor with Sky TV etc kept the kids happy on the rare occasion they were not in the pool. Every bedroom is nice. The other big plus of the villa is the lovely private terraces if you didn't want to sit around the pool. Lovely rattan seating and loungers to the large terrace to the side on the Ground Floor, by the built-in barbecue, made for many enjoyable long evenings as the sun set. The villa seems to get the best of the sun in every direction. Terrace to the rear, leading out through a gate (sensible, if you have younger kids) on to the pool terraces and the pool itself, has a lovely glass topped table under a shaded area that we used for just about every meal. Clever vertical blinds can be lowered late morning to protect this area from the blast of the midday sun, so you can eat outside but not be baking! And thirdly a secluded roof terrace if you want to chill out with your book. Its a 15-minute-ish walk to the nearest shops and restaurant complex that we found, which is very do-able (if best avoided at the height of a blazing August day!) A lovely villa - nicely equipped, works well for families. We're heading back in 2013!!
