Very Good

“Fantastic family holiday - relaxation and fun”

Reviewed 30 Apr 2013

We stayed at this apartment for 2 weeks with 2 young children (aged 2 1/2 and 5) and we had a really fantastic time. The area is perfect for young families - really quiet and safe - and the village of La Herradura has a really lovely feel to it. Our days were spent going from the beach to the playground, enjoying breakfast and coffee in the many cafes, tapas in the bars and lovely meals in the restaurants (plenty of variety and all extremely welcoming to children). The children really loved it and were totally relaxed and happy - the beach is really clean (they seem to clean it very morning), the little playgrounds dotted along the beach are great and there is a bigger playground a short work down the beach front where all the young local children go to play in the late afternoon. The apartment is in a wonderful location. It is in a beach front building and you literally walk out the door and in a few steps you are on the beach. It is also central in terms of the main village area - close to the shops and bars etc. The beachfront is quite long, so some buildings are a bit of a walk from amenities, but this one is very central. The place is spotless and has absolutely everything you would need. We often shopped at the La Herradura indoor food market (meat, fish, fresh veg all available there) and cooked at home - the kitchen is had everything you would want to cook a lovely meal. And the balcony is just perfect for dining on a warm evening with plenty of space for the whole family. The living room is really comfortable and cosy and there is satellite TV for any evenings in (sometimes nice to have a quiet night in watching TV when the children were gone to bed). We stayed for over 2 weeks and always had plenty to amuse ourselves. We saved on renting a car and instead travelled by bus (very easy and hassle free - one bus from Malaga airport to Malaga bus station and another to La Herradura - buses are fairly frequent and can be booked online From la Herradura there are regular buses to many nearby cities and locations - we made a couple of trips to nearby Almunecar (once for the big market that happens every Friday) and went for a day to Motril. We didn't go to Granada this time but have travelled from here to Granada before and it is really easy. I would happily recommend this property for a family holiday, but I think it would also make for a nice sun holiday for couples or groups of friends - as long as you were looking for something more relaxing than fast-paced. Although there are some great bars and even a nightclub or two and a great atmosphere in the evenings, especially on weekends.
