From the owner

We are situated in the heart of beautiful, peaceful countryside, about 45 mins from Cherbourg on the west coast of the Cotentin peninsula. We have three self-catering holiday cottages (or in Normandy, Gites) - The Stables,Chèvrefeuille and Jasmin. Our farm is in a charming and secluded spot within a typical Norman village. The grounds are enclosed so children can play in safety, and we encourage them to help out with our animals. The gites in manche are close to enormous sandy beaches (only 6km from our farm), and ideally placed for visiting Mont St Michel, Bayeux, and the Landing Beaches, or maybe house hunting in the Cotentin area. The attractive market towns of La Haye du Puits and Portbail, 6km and 8km away, have all the shops you need, including two supermarkets. If you are a fan of French street markets there is one available every day within easy driving distance. There are many fetes, fairs and festivals during the year (see our events page), or you might just want to enjoy the tranquility & beauty of the surrounding countryside.

We have swings, a selection of bicycles, table football, table tennis and a trampoline available on site. Other sporting and leisure activities available nearby include; tennis; golf; horse riding; canoeing; windsurfing; sailing; karting and ice-skating. The old railway lines have been transformed into a vast network of cycle routes going to La Haye du Puits and Coutances in one direction, and Portbail and Briquebec in the other covering the whole of the peninsular, all of which can be joined very close to the house. We also have free Wi-Fi access.

We are situated within the Parc des Marais, a designated nature reserve with a diverse local bird life, deer and even the odd wild boar! There is an 8km round walk. This starts from our house, going via the Mont de Doville and along the marshes, before returning. We speak French, English and German.

Created from three former pig-stys, Chèvrefeuille is a large, spacious cottage designed to accommodate up to 7 people in comfort. It has three bedrooms, two shower rooms, and a large open plan living/dining room with an open fire and kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with a fan-assisted electric oven, seperate grill and ceamic hob (2013). A microwave is provided, along with a kettle, toaster, and coffee-maker. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor and has an en-suite showeroom suitable for wheelchair users. Upstairs are two further bedrooms, a large shower room and a separate toilet. The gite has environmentally-friendly wood-pellet fuelled central heating, and solar panels help to heat the hot water. The gîte is accessible to wheelchair users and has been inspected and approved by the Association des Paralysés de France.

The gîte has a washing machine, digital TV (English & French channels) a DVD player, and has Wi-Fi throughout.

Outside is a large stone patio area with a table and benches with a large garden area behind. Comfortable garden chairs and a barbecue are provided.

    How do damage deposits work?
