Carefully renovated to retain its character with original exposed beams. La Porcherie is part of a 200 year old farm "Le Grand Pré" (the great meadow) which is set in a tranquil rural location with unspoilt views of the gently rolling countryside. A perfect setting for relaxing and a safe environment for the children to play. The site is set 200m off a quiet country lane with open fields all around and very private, yet only 8km (5 miles) from shops and amenities, including the local market and many excellent restaurants.

An area which still retains it's traditional french lifestyle with many chateaux, forests, lakes and rivers to explore,

there is an equestrian centre, fishing and 18 hole international golf course only 5 minutes away at Les Dryads, Pouligny Notre Dame, if you prefer you can just relax or swim in the 11m x 4m heated swimming pool (30°C) no matter what the weather. You have exclusive use of the pool but the garden is shared with the owners.

An excellent base for walking, cycling or exploring.

The night sky in France is full of stars and a sight not to be missed.

See the Indre river just a short walk down the field.

Welcome pack provided on arrival for bookings of 7 nights or more, which consists of :-

Baguette, croissants, semi-skimmed milk, butter, Jam,cheese, coffee, teabags, sugar and a bottle of wine.

All bed linen, towels, Pool towels, cleaning materials, gas, electricity, water and wood for the fire are included in the price.

Resident English owners live in the farmhouse across the garden and offer help and advice whenever needed.

Swimming pool only available from April to October, Heater only works if outside temperature exceeds 8°C.

Long term winter lets available November to March.

Excellent fire in every way. The pool was superb, the views stunning, the location amazing. Would definitely loved to have stayed another week. A proper family escape. Thanks Phil & Tracy for being wonderful hosts.

Excellent accommodation. Very much enjoyed our stay. Have holidayed in France many times over the years and this holiday home certainly rates as one of the highest, if not the highest. The gite is very clean and still looks as new. All mod cons available along with gas BBQ. Excellent games room and Gym equipment ('proper gym equipment' as my wife put it). My wife, daughter and I enjoyed a wonderful holiday. Very peaceful with a feeling of being at one with nature. The pool being heated is an added bonus. We have intentions of returning for another stay. Owners friendly and helpful but not intrusive in any way. Thank you for a great stay.

We had a wonderful time at La Porcherie. The accommodation is great. It's very well maintained and has all the home comforts you'd expect. The pool and mini-gym/games room are fantastic. We spent lots of time in and around the pool (the weather was wonderful so we needed to cool off from time to time!). Our kids (4 and 6) loved playing in the shallow end. The location is great for rest and relaxation - it's very peaceful but close enough to the nearest town (10mins by car) for shopping, eating out etc. We had a few days out but, to be honest, I think we all preferred relaxing at La Porcherie. I expect we'll return.

We booked La Porcherie based on the excellent reviews and it more than lived up to our high expectactions. Phil and Tracy have clearly worked extremely hard to provide a fantastic property with everything you need for a relaxing and fun holiday. The house was spotlessly clean and the heated swimming pool was a delight, both to swim in and just to sit by, taking in the beautiful French countryside that surrounds the property. The games room also proved very popular with our teenage boys - plenty of laughs! Despite the quiet location, there are lots of places to visit; Bourges, Oradour-sur-Glane, Sarzay castle, La Chatre. Thank you, Phil and Tracy, for being fantastic hosts and we really hope we can return in the future; hopefully for longer next time!

The gite is perfect. Very clean and spacious. The pool is fantastic and the fact that it is heated is a real bonus. Phil and Tracey were very helpful and made our stay really enjoyable. We travelled with young children and the holiday home had everything that we needed. We would really like to visit again.

Our family spent Oct Half Term week at La Porcherie and had a wonderful, relaxing week. We knew the private pool was heated but were still unsure how much we would use it. The weather was very good to us for the whole week with temperatures in the early 20's and the pool was heated at 31 degs and you couldn't get us out the pool, it was fantastic. The Games room in the adjacent barn was also well used with table tennis, pool table and darts board providing great entertainment. As we only had a week, we didn't do a great deal of exploring and just chilled out instead. We were able to enjoy all our meals, including breakfast, outside and it was still warm in the evening as we watched the moon and stars rise. Phil & Tracey respected our privacy but were on hand if we needed them. One of the best places we have ever stayed in and we will definitely return one day, hopefully for a longer stay.

We had a lovely week with our children at La Porcherie. The cottage is cosy and spotless and has everything you could need. The pool was clean, warm and has a lovely soft moulded floor - it was fantastic for the kids. The surrounding countryside and setting were beautiful. Unfortunately we didn't have the best weather and the only downside was that there wasn't a huge amount to do close by and many of the attractions didn't open until June. However if you get the weather you won't want to leave the poolside!

Very clean and comfortable cottage. Phil and Tracey are excellent hosts.The views are amazing, the swimming pool and games room are great. It's the ideal place to get away from it all and relax. Enjoyed watching the Buzzards every day.

A cared-for cottage that gave us privacy and space. it had everything we needed and non-intrusive help and advice was always available from Tracy and Phil. Lovely markets, chateaux, friendly locals, buzzards, hoopoes, only downside was the abysmal weather - but the cottage was snug and we were cosy. Beautiful clean pool, shame we hardly got in it! Games room very handy.

How do damage deposits work?
