From the owner

Maison Vauyon is an authentically restored stone cottage. It is located at the end of a quiet lane in the medieval quarter of the historic town of La Charité-sur-Loire.

Staying in this village is like taking a step back in time. Rub shoulders with the friendly locals... take in the weekly Saturday market and enjoy the fact that you can virtually walk to every amenity.

Wake up to the smell of fresh baked croissants and locally roasted coffee, and know that these delights are only a moments walk away.

If wine tasting is your thing...world famous vineyards of Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé are basically at your doorstep...or about a 10 min. drive.

Rent bikes at the local tourist office and enjoy a leisurely ride through the gentle countryside, follow the canals or the well-marked bike paths and discover the little hamlets and villages that dot the area.

Owner's reply:
I am gald that you still enjoy returning to our cottage every year that you return to France for a holiday, that really speaks volumes! You are right, the town is not on the tourist trail and the locals are friendly and helpful. There is plenty to do, and cycling is easy as most routes follow the Loire.(yes, it is a bit of an uphill street to the cottage) Makes that glass of wine a little more rewarding!

I'm glad that you enjoyed the town and staying in our cottage. Thanks for the note about the shower, we are having it replaced this fall so it won't be an issue in the future. As with the TV, it just takes a bit of patience to learn a new system...this is France after all. All the best, Linda
