The Nouvelle-Aquitaine region

The cottage is set within our 3 acre organic small farm or smallholding in the Bas-Berry/Boischaut sud area of Central France; an unspoilt, natural environment of woodlands, hedgerows and small fields. A sleepy, timeless landscape reminiscent of the British countryside of 50-100 years ago or more, virtually unchanged from medieval times.

La Cellette

Set in the foothills of the massif central, the area is characterised by rolling green hills, woodlands, hedgerows and small fields intertwined and connected by many hidden green lanes just waiting to be explored.

There's plenty to do just a few kilometres away, be it kayaking, horseriding, golf, fishing or watersports to name a few! More leisurely pursuits include visiting some of the museums including the museum of country life, the famous tapestry museum in Aubusson and the "maison de jour de fete" in Sainte Severe , celebrating the life and times of famous French actor Jacques Tati and the film he made in Sainte Severe -"Jour de Fete".

There are gardens and chateaux aplenty and many different fetes and foires throughout the year.

House rules

Apart from the usual expectations of mutual respect and regard, we do expect guests to respect and remember that the smallholding is our livelihood, and therefore the closing of gates into fields and gardens are of the utmost importance. We welcome children with the proviso that they must be supervised; we are a working farm and cannot guarantee that it is safe for unsupervised children. Smokers are welcome, but are respectfully asked to smoke outdoors where an ash-tray is provided.
