This modern 3 bedroom penthouse apartment is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday, as a base for golfers or if you are looking to explore the many treasures of the Costa del Sol.
It is located within a short stroll of the Calanova Golf Course, one of the many well-reputed golf courses in the area. We can put you in touch with a local company offering discounted green fees etc if you are are a golfer. There is a bar & restaurant at the golf club, where reasonably-priced meals and refreshments can be enjoyed, along with a Parillada style BBQ most Thursday nights in the summer.
Enjoy your holiday relaxing outside on the tranquil huge sun drenched south facing private terrace, complete with pergola and plunge pool, where you can soak up the sun or simply relax and read a book, whilst enjoying the scenery. Spectacular jaw-dropping panoramic views of the Mediterranean and surrounding area, where you can relax and enjoy looking down the golf course to the turquoise blue water of the sea, the surrounding mountains and Mijas village, and even as far as the Sierra Nevada (where there is snow for skiing in the winter months) and the coastline of Africa on a very clear day.
The urbanisation is gated and secure, with disabled access, and offers secure private underground parking with direct lift access to the property. Calanova Sea Golf is set within beautiful sun-drenched sub-tropical and tranquil gardens, which feature a choice of 5 large swimming pools and a children's pool to choose from, all within easy access of the apartment. The terrace is fully furnished with a shaded pergola covering a corner outdoor sofa set, a private 3.6 metre filtered plunge pool, outdoor dining table with 6 chairs and 3 sunbeds. The lounge, kitchen and all three bedrooms have direct access to the huge sun drenched terrace. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms feature single mattresses and the master bedroom has a king size bed. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms are serviced by the family shower room, and the master bedroom benefits from its own fully equipped en-suite bathroom with bath/shower. The kitchen is equipped with high grade appliances.
The busy and popular former fishing village of La Cala de Mijas is a short drive away and offers fantastic beaches and great amenities including bars, restaurants, chiringuitos (fresh fish beach restaurants), supermarkets, banks, Internet access, post office, gymnasium, chemist and public transport links. The famous La Cala outdoor market which operates every Wednesday and Saturday, from 10am until 2pm, is a wonderful venue to purchase local goods ranging from locally grown fruit and vegetables to clothing, shoes, handbags, and pottery.

The Andalucia region
The Costa de Sol boasts around 320 days of sunshine and is popular with holiday makers all year round due to the wonderful climate. It has a long summer period from June until October, when it is hot but pleasant with no humidity and no rain, ideal for beach holidays. During other seasons there is plenty of sunshine, so that you can enjoy lots of outdoor activities, such as golf and tennis.
Marbella and Puerto Banus are the playgrounds of the rich and famous, famous for shopping, fine dining and lively bars to fit all tastes. The harbour of Puerto Banus is absolutely full of luxury yachts and fast cars. The restaurants along this strip are worth a visit, although a bit pricey, but the cuisine is outstanding. Why not spend an evening taking in the local culture.
Shopping is also excellent, El Corte Ingles is a modern department store, with designer goods and essentials. This is in Puerto Banus. There is also a El Corte Ingles in Fuengirola which is a short drive away from the apartment. During the High Season Puerto Banus holds a lovely outdoor market, this is open until late and worth a visit.
When in Marbella please remember to visit Plaza de los Naranjos (Orange Square), where you will find an assortment of restaurants and bars, meander around this area to find lovely shops. Whilst in Marbella visit the Golden Mile and see for yourself how the rich and famous live. The local modern shopping centre is called La Cañada, and is located at the top of Marbella, just off the main A7. Here you can find a Marks and Spencers and other recognisable high street names from the UK.
Gibraltar is approximately 90KM drive away, worth visiting for Duty Free goods. Please check with our managing agent for the opening times if shopping in the High Street. In Gibraltar you will find a Marks & Spencer and British Home Stores, as well as many more popular High Street Chains. Perfume shops are a speciality. Morrisons is open Sunday until 5 PM and each weekday evening until 10 PM.
When visiting Gibraltar why not take the cable car to the top of the rock or a local mini-bus tour, when you arrive at the top of the famous rock you will see the apes, but be careful not to open your handbag for a snack, as they move pretty quickly and are quite happy to hitch a ride or pinch your snack!
The Sierra Nevada is famous for skiing during the Winter Season, and being located in Granada, is a nice drive from the apartment taking approximately two and a half hours.
Whilst visiting the Costa del Sol we highly recommend that you sample the local tapas, and beverages.
Seville is approximately a 3 hour drive from La Cala de Mijas and is a must-visit if at all possible. There is excellent public transport from La Cala in all directions and to everywhere you might like to visit (including Seville).
We can offer a number of interesting tours to Tangier in Morocco, Servilla, Granada etc, via local travel agents. Details on request.
La Cala de Mijas
Mijas Costa is very popular with people from all walks of life, it has something for everyone, it is not difficult to see why people come back year after year.
La Cala (the creek) is a charming former fishing village. It now plays host to a wide and varied range of eateries and bars. Why not dine on the beach front in one of the popular restaurants? There is a Supersol and a Mercadona (supermarkets) and plenty of banks / ATMs. There is also a wide range of beauty salons, and a wonderful spa facility, this is the perfect place to unwind, and pamper yourselves.
The beaches are long, sandy and well cared for.
Fuengirola is a short drive away from the apartment, approximately 15 minutes. Here you will find shopping, bars and restaurants. There is also a Water Park and Zoo.
Mijas Pueblo is a beautiful village, steeped in the hillside and well worth a visit. Here you will find horse & carriage rides, donkey rides, craft shops, restaurants and bars. Mijas Pueblo is a very popular visitor destination, and a short drive from the apartment. During the summer months it is recommended that guests spend an evening strolling through the cobbled streets, maybe even pop into one of the many restaurants for something to eat or drink. The restaurants are reasonably priced and the ambiance is lovely. Recommended.
If you are looking for well-maintained golf courses you will find them here, the La Cala Golf course is one of the best in the area and certainly worth checking out.
There are plenty of recreational activities to choose from in the area.
The Mijas Hipodrome can be easily found by driving into La Cala and following the simple directions.
Benalmadena is a fairly short drive away, visit the pretty harbour where you can take boat trips as well as visit the famous Aquarium. There is also a telecabin for those of you wanting to take in the breathtaking views of the famous coastline.
if you fancy something a bit different then why not take a day trip to Morocco these can be easily arranged through us. These trips are by fast ferry from Tarifa and are comfortable and the crossing only takes around 45 minutes to 1 hour.

"Excellent Apartment. Great support from Agents"
We had instructions to meet one of the agents (Sean) at a pre arranged location in La Cala from where we followed him to the apartment. I have seen in another review that the reviewer was concerned that the agent would not show up .. we did have the same trepidation but was unnecessary. The complex is uphill away from the town and a hire car is necessary if you want to explore or even just pop into town for essentials or restaurants/bars. We knew the area having visited before and knew what to expect. The apartment was massive and very well presented with beautiful views towards the sea. The terrace is huge ensuring sun at all times of the day and plenty of space for eating out and letting kids run around. The complex has many pools and garden areas to sunbathe however when we were there we found a shortage of sunbeds and it was fortunate (for us) that the complex was not very busy at the time. I have also read other criticisms of the agents (Sean and Mónica) who we found to be very, very helpful. On arrival they showed us around the apartment and demonstrated use of all the facilities without overstaying their welcome. Sean followed up early the next morning on a small open item we had and another time I mistakenly locked the key in and us out of the apartment (which is very easy to do) but again Sean showed up to force open the door for us. Overall I would recommend this apartment for larger families or 2/3 couples looking for a luxury quiet location.
