How difficult to resist to the charm of l'Isle sur la Sorgue, this delightful town in the Vaucluse. Criss-crossed by the Sorgue river branches (coming from Fontaine de Vaucluse), it names itself, maybe a little bit pompously the "Venice of the Comtat".
L'Isle sur la Sorgue holds a pretty historic heritage. The church Notre Dame des Anges has a Romanic origin, it owns inside one of the most beautiful baroque decoration from the 17th century in the region.
L'Isle sur la Sorgue is a dynamic little town, with a very reputated market every Sunday morning, it is also a centre of european scale for the antiques market.
You will appreciate every sound charm by trailing round you along the canals which steal between the narrow and former(old) streets. You will pass on small bridges and will follow the work of gear wheels with mossy dawns pulled(entailed) with Sorgue. Do not miss the spectacle of the " Division(sharing) of waters " situated in 1 km upstream to the city, there where the river halving and forms a stretch of water shaded in which are reflected plane trees and generous greenery...
