Location description from owner

The Catalonia region

The Costa Dorada region has much to offer, from the impressive Roman amphitheatre and sophisticated shops in the city of Tarragona, to the popular beach resorts of Salou and Cambrils and the natural beauty of the Ebro Delta. Sports from cat-fishing to walking, cycling, golf and water sports are all catered for. The area also plays host to one of Europe's largest theme parks, Port Aventura, which offers great fun for the whole family!Barcelona is one of the Mediterranean's busiest ports as well as being Spain's second city and the capital of Catalunya. In terms of architecture, culture, commerce and sport, it not only rivals Madrid, but justly considers itself on a par with the greatest cities in the world. One striking feature of Barcelona is its famous Art Nouveau architecture, of which the most iconic example is Gaudi's unfinished masterpiece, the Sagrada Familia. In reality, there are so many "must see" attractions for the tourist that it would be impossible to list them all here. Perhaps the best way for the first-time visitor to see the city is via the open-top Bus Turistic that runs from April through to February on two main routes from the Placa de Catalunya. For around 20 euros, you may get on and off the buses, or change routes, as often as you wish during the day. For culture, shopping, whiling away the hours in a traditional tapas bar, or just soaking up the atmosphere on the world-famous street of "La Rambla", Barcelona has it all!For a more relaxing day out, the delta of Spain's longest river, the River Ebro. can be reached in only 25 minutes, and is well worth the effort. Visitors are rewarded with stunning views and amazing beaches - in fact, the sand dunes of the delta were used as the setting for the film "Sahara" starring Penelope Cruz. The major attractions here, though, are the world-renowned and rare species of flora and fauna that can be found in the 27 square miles of the delta that have been turned into a nature reserve, the Parc Natural del Delta de L'Ebre.

L'Ametlla de Mar

The villa is located in a quiet area approximately 5 minutes by car from any of the three lovely sandy beaches of Las Tres Calas (literally "The Three Coves"). There is also a small selection of bars and restaurants, together with a supermarket, baker's, greengrocer's and a hardware store, plus a children's play area nearby.A mere 5 kilometres away is the very traditional and quaint fishing village of L'Ametlla de Mar. This is an ideal place for browsing in the shops, enjoying a relaxing drink by the harbour or perhaps spending a more lively evening in one of the many bars and restaurants. As well as having all the usual facilities such as banks, pharmacies, supermarkets and so on, L'Ametlla also has a daily indoor market selling fresh produce, and a twice-weekly outdoor market offering a wide range of clothing, footwear, bags and souvenirs, all at great prices. Most of the local towns host weekly markets - one of our favourites is the bustling Sunday market at L'Hospitalet de L'Infant which is a 15 minute drive along the scenic N340.

“The house was very nice with an amazing pool.”

Reviewed 17 Sep 2014

The house was very nice and and included everything. The neighbours were very quiet and the pool was amazing. It is a nice place to stay if you have kids. The area is very close to nice cities like Salou and Barcelona. Tarragona and reus were also very nice. The beaches were very close and a relaxing place to be.

“Lovely holiday villa in quieter area of Spain”

Reviewed 7 Aug 2013

Lovely villa situated in a gated "community" of 20 houses all of similar description. Comfortable space in villa for our family of 5 with compact garden for loungers etc. Well equipped kitchen for those nights when you may wish to cook, although we found local restaurants very appealing ! Shared pool good size, clean and warm. You will need a car to stay at this property as situated within a quiet residential area but within about 1 mile of main routes to visit beaches/towns etc. Lovely area of Spain and will certainly look to visit again. Local contact very helpful and welcoming, with UK owners completely accommodating - thanks again.

“Excellent service from start to finish. The villa was safe, seculed and on a small private complex.”

Reviewed 29 Jul 2013

The owner provided a very professional service and was very helpful providing information before we departed and was very willing to answer any questions via email. Excellent clear directions to the villa and was flexible on the time of arrival. We were met by a local resident who provided a warm, friendly welcome and they were available if we had any problems or questions, but we were left alone to enjoy the holiday. One of 20 properties sharing a pool with access to a garden and patio area around the pool and the majority of the time we had the pool to ourselves. We had a small private garden/patio with garden furniture and a private balcony. The air conditioned villa was a blessing and had all the essential equipment, with the added benefit of WI FI. There is a local Spar and a couple of restaurants/tapas bar within walking distance. To explore the beautiful local beaches and fishing villages a car is essential, having good access to parking at the villa. I would recommend this villa to family and friends and want to explore this beautiful area of Spain again. Thank you.

“Lovely villa in a beautiful setting”

Great pool! Visit as many of the surrounding beaches as you can as they all have different characters, from idyllic coves to vast expanses of sand. Cambrills is only half an hour away with a range of restaurants and lively shops.
