Gorska Hiša offers an excellent opportunity to be at the centre of adventure, just a 2min walk from black and red ski runs, the venue for the Audi World Championship Slalom event. In fact the balconies of the house look directly towards them. With another 3 runs within a 10min walk. A ski lift leads in Kranjska Gora with numerous runs for all abilities. Kranjka Gora is only 5 minutes away by car, with plenty of parking. All equipment can be hired in Kranjska Gora and ski passes can be bought there or near the ski lift in Podkoren. Night time skiing is also available.Whilst an amazing winter destination it also lends itself toward the warmer months as well with an extensive array of recreational pursuits on offer. Whether it be hiking or a leisurely stroll, a visit to stunning Jasna Lake, Vršic Pass or countless other gems in the area you will only be limited by choice and the time you have to spend.

There is a large patio area with a table, 6 chairs and parasol provided; also a portable barbeque.There are tobogans at the house which can be used on the local slopes after 4.00pm when the ski lift closes. The house has a ski rack, a boot rack, and clothes can be put in the boiler room to dry.

The Upper Carniola Region

The north-western part of Slovenia is Alpine and is known as Gorenjska. For centuries, it has been the most developed Slovenian region, with the longest tradition in tourism. It boasts several towns with beautiful historic centres, such as kofja Loka, Radovljica, Kranj, Kamnik and Tric.

Kropa and Kamna gorica were centres of iron forging, nail-making and blacksmithing, while the ironworks at Jesenice, the regions largest, date from more recent times. The town of Jesenice is also the cradle of Slovenian ice-hockey.

Gorenjska is synonymous with winter sports. Numerous ski resorts and the world-famous ski-jumping hills at Planica are all essential elements of the regions winter image. Bled, Bohinj and Kranjska Gora have for many years been among the most popular Slovenian tourist destinations.

The town of Kranj, the industrial and business hub of Gorenjska, is the seat of many successful companies.

Kranjska Gora

Podkoren is one of Slovenia's prettiest mountain villages with pretty alpine architecture set around a lovely square just 2km from Kranjska Gora, Slovenia's best known mountain resort and in walking distance to the Kranjska Gora World Cup ski pistes.

On the border with Austria & Italy, Kranjska Gora is the most famous mountain resort in Slovenia. The skiing is the main draw for many people – Kranjska Gora is a superb resort for families and beginner – intermediate level skiers, with pistes easily accessible from the village. But with stunning mountain scenery, great access to the Triglav National park and a host of Summer and Winter outdoor pursuits (walking, mountain biking, horse riding, cross country skiing, mountaineering & ice skating) it remains very popular all year round. The town itself is a pretty alpine affair, very family friendly, with lots of lively restaurants, bars and a couple of swimming pools / spas. Around Kranjska Gora are a number of extremely pretty villages (including Podkoren, Ratece, Mojstrana, Dovje) in idyllic mountain surroundings.
