Location description from manager

Southern Poland region

Poland, though trampled on and suppressed many times over the years, has been the every rising phoenix from the ashes of war torn Europe. Complimented by its deep and rich heritage and history, Europe’s 21st century Poland is guaranteed to be an exciting and eye opening experience for you.

If the 14th century Gothic castles in the north and the extermination camps of Nazi Germany don’t fascinate you, the world cuisines and street artists of the cities will get that inner artist or writer out of you!

Even in the midst of rapid modernisation, the countryside still retains its rustic charm and practicalities. The crystal waters of the Great Masurian Lakes and still popular with sailors and Kayakers and the long sandy beaches of the Baltic coast, providing ample seaside resorts for the summer.

Krakow

It’s hard to explain how much you are missing out on in the city of Krakow. This beautiful walled city was the capital of the country between the 11th and 17th century. Krakow is also home to the countries’ first university, the Krakow Academy today called the Jagiellonian Uni. Even the harsh effects of modernism have not been able to dowse this city’s obvious history of artists, musicians and writers. Krakow was once the centre of new ideas and culture, prosperous for many thousands of years.

The market square, like Warsaw, has been the centre of city life for centuries, but this one is particularly well known as being the 2nd largest in Europe after Venice! Bursting with an estimated 6000 architecturally attractive buildings and about 2.5 million antiques and artefacts stored in museums and churches. The city is so rich in history it has even been registered as one of the 12 sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

There are some definite “no tot be missed” attractions such as sites linked with John Paul II, the underground tunnels of the Wieliczka salt mine, the Kazimierz Jewish district and the Veit Stoss altar. The traditional bugle call done every hour on the hour, is one of the many fascinating peculiarities in the city. The bugle is played from the top of St. Mary’s Church tower and even played on the radio for the mini trumpet’s dulcet tones at noon each day.

“Beautiful and clean apartment in a fantastic location”

Reviewed 21 Nov 2012

It's a specious and clean apartment in a great location, only a minute walk from the main square. Ideal for exploring Krakow's day and night life with its restaurants and cafes. It was great having the flat spread over two floors which separated the sleeping area from the rest of the flat. We thought that the check in and check out were really easy and efficient. The check out was particularly convenient - the only thing we had to do was to drop the keys off in a box by the apartment. This really helped as we were traveling on a very tight schedule. Would definitely come back next time we are in Krakow.
