The Dodecanese region
Rhodes is one of the most popular holiday destinations for visitors to Greece. It has a very warm, sunny climate, stunning scenery, lovely beaches and a fascinating history. It is a wonderfully colourful island, surrounded by blue sea, covered by blue sky, it has many quaint little villages with cobbled streets and white houses, the most popular being Lindos, set out on the hillside above the bay and dominated by it's famous acropolis, it is one of the prettiest villages in the world.
Many beautiful trees, flowers and shrubs flourish in the semi-tropical climate. In Spring, the roadsides burst into bright yellow as the Mimosa trees flower, and later, all shades of pink as the Oleanders take the stage.
There are lovely beaches to be found all around the coastline, almost all suitable for swimming. The west coast tends to be more windy, attracting wind and kite surfers. The most southern point of the island, Prassonissi, being especially popular for these sports. There are many places to enjoy the stunning scenery, not least the interior of the island where there are some very pleasant walk in the pine forests.
Rhodes is known for it's traditional cuisine, and many of the village tavernas offer delicious traditional dishes and local wines and beers at very reasonable prices. Local specialities include moussaka, stuffed vine leaves, tzatziki, giant beans, stifado, Symi shrimps and many types of fresh fish.
Rhodes is also famous for it's Old Town, an ancient walled town, which far from being in ruins, is vibrant, bustling and full of life. It sits just beside the port, which welcomes many visitors travelling by sea, on luxury cruisers, ferries, private yachts and flying boats. From here it is possible to take trips to nearby islands, to mainland Greece and to Turkey.
Visitors arriving by air will find a good sized International airport with modern facilities, with car hire agents and taxis easily available.
The villa is located in a quiet area just on the outskirts of Koskinou village, a typical Greek village with quaint little houses with walled courtyards. There are some good tavernas offering fresh cooked, local dishes. There are several beaches within easy reach, the nearest being about 5 minutes drive away at Kallithea.

We arrived at the villa on Friday afternoon, we were given very clear instructions from the owners and found the villa with ease. When we arrived we were surprised to find a beautiful large pool, room for everyone!! The villa was well set out with easy access to the pool. We stayed very close to the town, only a 5-10 min drive. The owners were very helpful, giving us advice on where to eat and things to do. I will recommend staying here to all my family and friends.
