Location description from owner

The Paphos District

Paphos
This south-west corner of Cyprus has an ambience all of its own: soft breezes, old stone, elusive enchantment and an air of antiquity. Extremely welcoming in spring (March on wards) through to late November. With the early and late part of the year being very green and flowery. Paphos itself is really two towns, each with its own character; Ktima on the cliff and Kato Paphos by the sea, two kilometres down the road. The one is unchanged over centuries and thoroughly Cypriot while the other has expanded over the last decade from a sleepy fishing village and harbour into a bustling, busy, sprawling cosmopolitan resort which is still growing.
Roman Paphos was the island's capital, and the 3rd century mosaics here are the finest in the Mediterranean. The atmosphere is fun loving and friendly, with plenty of bars, pubs, discos, a few nightclubs if that is what takes your fancy and innumerable eating places providing anything from choice Italian cuisine to sizzling souvlaki off the spit.
Swimming in the bay's deep, clear waters is good. The coastline to the north is peppered with small sandy coves but the area's best beach is a 15 minute drive away at Coral Bay. Paphos is an ideal centre from which to explore this region of wild coastline, unspoilt hillside villages and natural beauty; yet it takes less than an hour by car to reach Limassol.
Paphos combines both culture and entertainment in a conveniently sized package. In Paphos you will find some of Cyprus' most stunning archaeological gems such as its Roman mosaics and Tomb of the Kings situated amongst beach-front resort hotels and golden beaches. While Limassol is brash and Larnaka is demure, Paphos is quite friendly and is one of Cyprus' most desirable cities. Kato Paphos (Lower Paphos) is the port annex of Old town Paphos (Upper Paphos) and is home to the greatest number of archaeological sites in the area. It provides a lively and friendly ambience in it's renovated port area where visitors, unlike elsewhere in Cyprus' ports, can actually swim. With its palm tree lined boulevards, tasteful public and private buildings, Paphos is a pleasant place to spend a holiday. There are ample restaurants and watering holes and if you tire of the beach annex you can always retire to Old town Paphos for an afternoon's stroll or evening meal.
Coral Bay
11 kilometres (15 minutes' drive) to the north of Paphos and 3 kilometres below the friendly, hillside village of Peyia is Coral Bay, the best natural beach in the area. The summer heat is often tempered by a gentle breeze, the sea has a shallow margin where children may play safely and, in the busier months, water sports on offer include pedaloes, water skiing, banana boats, wet bikes and windsurfing.

Konia

Konia
The small traditional village of Konia has its own Taverna (Excellent food and value for money), Bar, Coffee shop, Bank, Bakery and at least 3 minimarkets all within a 2 minute walk. Konia is just off the end of the main A6 road from Paphos airport just out side of Paphos old town. ideal place to start exploring the lovely are of Paphos.

“Home from Home”

Reviewed 16 Mar 2015

A wonderful two bedroomed townhouse, each bedroom on suite, one with shower, one with bath. The property was quality furnished with two comfortable settees, nice table and chairs, plus every amenity, TV, DVD player, which the children took full advantage of, plus there was a stereo system, and sun loungers There is a communal pool, which although we did not use, it looked very inviting. The property is in a quiet village of Konia yet only 10 minutes in the car from Paphos harbour, municipal beach and all tourist amenities. The property is only 15 minutes from Paphos airport. For those that like to view the island by using public transport, there is a bus stop about 100 yards from the property. Buses are cheap to use especially if you buy weekly passes. Konia village has a supermarket, a kiosk( like a corner shop) and a few restaurants. There are a number of large supermarkets within a 5 minute car ride. I love Paphos,, having stayed in Coral Bay which I loved, I only took the property in Konia because it was near to family. There were other more expensive holiday lets available which made me concerned that I was trading quality for convenience, how wrong was I. If you visit Paphos, book this property, it is in a peaceful location yet only 10 minutes from the tourist area. People ask, would you go back again? I say always to Paphos and definitely to this Konia property.

Lovely house beautifully furnished and presented, nice and quiet but within walking distance of village tavern (brill Meze) and bar, local shop and bakery. Ideally situated for airport and Harbour or old town. Lovely pool and views of sea and mountains.
