“Wonderful villa, great views, extremely peaceful”

Reviewed 24 Apr 2017

We booked this villa as a peaceful 'get away ' and that's what we got. It is situated above a small village, on top of the hill. The only noise you hear when you're outside the villa comes from either bees in the lavender bush, the wild goats or the birds. We went in mid April but the weather was still good and our two children who are 6 and 9 throughly enjoyed the pool, although it was a bit cold for me so early in the season. The views are amazing and there was still snow on the mountains. Don't forget your binoculars! You need a car to get around, but you could easily walk to the nearest village which is only 1.5 km away. There are lots of small shops and restaurants in the nearby towns of Almirida and Kylives, and beaches in both. We went to eat in the restaurant next to the glass factory (which is actually a glass artists shop) the food was excellent, all traditional Greek dishes and lots that were served tapas style, we ordered 8 dishes for two adults and two children, and struggled to eat it all there was so much, it was well worth a visit. Chania is only about 30 mins away and the old part of the town and harbour is beautiful with some good shops and cafes. We had a great holiday and would definitely stay there again!

Owner's reply: Thank you for your lovely comments we are really pleased you had a great holiday and enjoyed our villa

“Lovely villa in great location”

Reviewed 31 Aug 2012

Just back from a fortnight in this villa and we all had a fantastic time. Agree with all the comments of other reviewers except to say the garden has been made attractive too. A car is essential to stay here but with that there is plenty to do and lots of local tavernas to eat in - especially in Plaka. Owner is very helpful by email and "caretaker" in Crete a mine of good information. Would recommend this villa to other families with young children (ours age 6-10), although pool not gated as may be needed for toddlers.

“Nice villa in a good location”

Reviewed 21 Aug 2011

We spent two weeks at Villa Kannoni. It's location is peaceful with some amazing views of Souda Bay. The sunsets from the upstairs terrace were stunning. It was easy to find thanks to the excellent directions given by the owners. There are plenty of bars and tavernas in the local area although none of them are really within walking distance. A car is essential if you stay here. There are some delightful villages and small beaches/bays not too far away which are definitely worth exploring. The villa itself is very comfortable, spacious and well equipped. The furnishings are of a high standard. The pool area is fantastic although has very little shade which can be difficult in the height of summer. The garden really let the villa down as it was very unkempt, dry and prickly. The plant pots on the terraces were the same. This was a shame as the gardens and planters of other villas in the area were very pretty and colourful. Generally we felt the villa was in need of a little tlc but this did not affect our holiday. We were also disappointed not to receive a welcome pack. All in all we enjoyed a very relaxing and very hot two weeks at Villa Kinnoni!

Owner's reply: Thank you for your comments we have taken on board the issues about the garden and this autumn when season is finished we have organised for it to be further landscaped. We will also do any on going mainteance. The welcome packs are available on request for a small cost as in the advert. We are glad you enjoyed the stunning views and the sunsets as this was the reason we fell in love with the place.
