Description

Thorntree Barn is in the hills above Flanders Moss, midway between Loch Lomond, the Trossachs and Stirling, in central Scotland, on the southern edge of the Highlands - perfect for a self catering holiday in Scotland. Arnprior village is on the edge of the Trossachs and Loch Lomond National Park and is close to the Lake of Menteith, Scotland's only lake. We are within one hour of Edinburgh and Glasgow, making this an ideal base for visiting Scotland's major cities, as well as all the major tourist attractions and sites.

There are three twin bedded rooms, two of which can be arranged either as twins or doubles. One has a private shower room.

The property is rural and secluded, but easily reached, and has wonderful views over Ben Lomond and the Trossachs mountains. Thorntree is ideal for visiting Edinburgh and Glasgow (each only 45 minutes) as well as Perthsire and alll the lovely scenery. We welcome golfers - and rememeber the Rysder Cup is at Gleneagles in September 2014.

The Scotland region

The scenery and countryside are a major attraction for visitors to Scotland, and Thorntree is a very central base from which to explore. We have visitors who go as far as Fort William, Inverness and Aberdeen, all of which can be reached in the day.

There is much to do withing easy reach. There are numerous golf courses (including Gleneagles) within one hours drive. Trout fishing is available locally and if you are a walker or climber, then Thorntree is an ideal base. In the winter, the ski areas at Glencoe and Glenshee are just over one hour, and Aonach Moor just a little more.
Glasgow and Edinburgh are both less than one hour way and both cities have a vibrant range of Museums, Art Galleries, Theatres and other attractions. Oban (ferries to some of the Isles) and St Andrews are easily reached for day visits from Thorntree.
There are excellent pubs and pub restaurants within a few minutes of Thorntree for those who like to eat out
