Interaction with guest

We normally greet our guests giving you a short tour of the cottage and the surrounding area and facilities. For instance there is a pub Balgedie Toll Tavern at the bottom of the hill its 5 mins walk serving good food, lunch and dinner. There is also a lovely farm shop Loch Levens Larder which is only 10 mins walk serving breakfast and lunch it has a delicatessen and lovely gift shop and childrens play park with wonderful views over Loch Leven. It will also give you access to Loch Levens Heritage Trail this is great for families, walking, cycling and running. The total route around the loch is 21km but you do not have to do the whole route to benefit from its beauty. There are maps of the area in the cottage.

Very Good

“Ashtrees Cottage”

Reviewed 10 Jul 2017

We had a wonderful weekend stay in early July. The cottage makes the most of the picturesque surroundings with superb views from the first floor in all directions. The cottage is very well equipped and has a warm and homely feel. Maggie the owner, was a great host and furnished us with lots of local knowledge. The cottage has the benefit of feeling secluded while having the local pub in walking distance. A lovely weekend, I hope to make it back this summer.

We are extremely grateful that we found this Cottage. What we liked? Everything. The house is a nice little cottage, but it spacious enough for us (4 adults). Probably even better for 2 adults + 2 kids in the bunk beds. The kitchen is very well equipped, everything you might need. Example: there are a lot of cups, mugs, glasses, not just the minimum 4 for the 4 guests. Different sizes, kinds to choose from (and by the way this is more efficient as well, because you can use all, fill the dishwasher completely and then run it only once a day). The house is clean, very well kept; there's the comfortable living room. Luckily the weather was exceptionally good, so we couldn't/didn't have to try the fireplace. I couldn't display photos from my phone on the TV set, but it's Samsung's fault, not the owners'. :-) And it took us more than a day to find the hairdryer: our fault. :-). WiFi worked perfectly with all the devices on us. There is a little garden where you can sit down behind the house. 1 car can park comfortably in front of the house. Not being British, we are usually cold;  not here, heating and thermostats worked perfectly. There are _useful_ guidebooks about both local and Scotland-wide places to visit. There's a nice pub in walking distance (advantage: alcohol-wise) that also runs excellent kitchen. My only problem: we could only stay for a few days. Next time we'll plan more in advance and stay longer. Ideal for local walks-hikes, also to use as a base and drive everywhere like Edinburgh, Falkirk, Dundee, St. Andrews etc. The owners respond very quickly to emails, they were really kind and helpful. Thanks Maggie and Michael, we'll come back when we're near again.

Owner's reply: Hi Geza, Thanks for the lovely review and we will make a note to let future guest know where to find the hairdryer :) :) We look forward to welcoming you to Ashtrees Cottage again in the future. Kind regards Maggie & Michael
