Description from owner

Description

The cottage is traditional but fully refurbished and recently extended, located on the South side of Loch Rannoch, in rural Perthshire - an idillic holiday location. The cottage sleeps up to six people, offering high quality and very comfortable self-catering accommodation for couples and families alike. The cottage offers you the chance to relax and get away from it all or explore the surrounding area, enjoy the enclosed & very private, secluded garden, or be as active as you wish in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

The cottage comprises; a large garden room/lounge with log burning stove, a modern kitchen/dining room with dishwasher, a master double bedroom with log burning stove, a second double bedroom, and a twin bedroom. There is a bathroom, and a separate shower room, each with a WC. Pets are welcome by prior arrangement, we charge a fee of £25 per pet. The cottage is strictly non smoking.

The cottage is set back from the road in a very secluded spot just 50 yards from Loch Rannoch and backs on to the ancient Black Wood of Rannoch for fantastic walking/running and mountain biking. The cottage comes with fishing rights and has its own stretch of lochside (please note the cottage is not located directly on the loch shore) where you can paddle about or go for a swim.

Sit in the garden room to watch red squirrels, wood peckers and many other birds in their natural environment, just yards away.

Vistor Feedback:

"Thank you very much for letting us use this very special cottage. We have holidayed in a few cottages & cabins over the years, but we have never felt so relaxed & refreshed as we have at West Carie. Sitting in the garden with the sun to the west with the quiet and stillness will be remembered for a long time, as will the beautiful scenery and walks. The walks on this holiday have been done at one pace (slow) but still crammed everything in, including Glen Lyon. The weather has been mixed but not enough as keep us in. Light waterproofs were all that was needed. As I write this I am thinking of the wonderful week we have had at West Carie Cottage and definitely this goes on to our short list of “return to”. Thank you very much again."

Cottage so peaceful & comfortable. Enjoyed the loch (boating), walking locally and seeing the wildlife which included a greater spotted woodpecker & large birds of prey. So many primroses and bluebells. A week was not enough."

“Perfect setting, very pet friendly cottage”

Reviewed 30 Jun 2019

The location was great near to the Loch. The cottage was lovely and the garden was absolutely gorgeous and very pet friendly. Definitely recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a dog friendly holiday. There was only two of us, but it would accommodate a family of six. Would visit again.

“Great Getaway Cottage”

Reviewed 14 Oct 2017

Decided to take a few days away from the city, this cottage suited our needs perfectly. The stove fires are great coming into the winter months and the heated floors are a bonus. Amazing scenery and walks in every direction. Will hopefully be back!

Owner's reply: Glad you enjoyed your stay in the country, it’s the perfect spot to get away from it all!

“Fantastic cottage and location”

Reviewed 6 Jun 2017

Just back from a superb 3 night stay at West Carie Cottage. We stayed with another couple and our 2 dogs. The cottage has a fully enclosed garden all around it making it great for dogs. The cottage was spotless and has a sun room/conservatory that gives a great view of the birds that visit the garden continually. Literally through the back gate, there's access to some great walks, with views over Loch Rannoch. We had a great time and left with 2 exhausted dogs, will definitely be returning. Ideal if looking for some peace and quiet and enjoy scenic walks.

Owner's reply: Dear Mark, thank you for your kind words, we are delighted you enjoyed your stay at the cottage and will look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Kind regards, Dawn

Great cottage will all things you would want. Even enough for a teenage to be entertained for 3 days. Very good for cycling around the Loch and mountain biking too. Bikes provided.
