Location description from owner

The Aviemore and the Cairngorms region

The Highlands is the largest, yet least populated geographical area of Scotland and holds some of the most spectacular and diverse scenery like the towering mountain ranges of Nevis and Cairngorm, pockets of the old Caledonian Forest, plentiful lochs and rivers.

It plays host to a wealth of wildlife, with the majestic golden eagle soaring high over heads of red deer on the mountains and pine martens, roe deer, capercaillie, squirrels and wild cat all finding refuge in pockets of the ancient Caledonian Forest. Dolphins and seals navigate the seas, while otters, ospreys and sea eagles fish in the lochs and rivers.

Kingussie

Just l mile from the Highland Town of Kingussie, 12 miles south of Aviemore. Within l mile shops, restaurants, within 6 miles beach, wildlife park, folk museum, within 19 miles winter skiing, reindeer centre, osprey centre, various visitor attractions.
One of the best golf courses in the Cairngorm National Park only a few minutes drive away and fishing less than 400metres.

“Number 1 Holiday Cottage in Scotland”

Reviewed 23 Jan 2012

As the title of this review states, this is by far the number 1 holiday cottage we've stayed in throughout Scotland. Julie and John are most welcoming hosts and have provided us with numerous fantastic holidays in this wonderful Cairngorm location. Situated close to Kingussie and it's local amenities, plus only a stones throw further to Aviemore and the Cairngorm ski resort, the cottage is perfect for couples or family holidays. We have never gone wanting for things to do and find the book of suggested places to visit a first read upon arrival. All in all, the cottage has everything; location, peace and quiet, great hosts, comfort, cleanliness and quality with many items refreshed before they become tired or too well used. We will be back time and time again as we have before and cannot recommend this cottage highly enough. Thanks, Rob

“Excellent, with wonderful hosts.”

Reviewed 17 Jan 2012

Everything about this ppropety is superb and the hosts do everything possible to make your stay as enjoyable as it could be. they also supply fruit and veg out of their own garden. This is one of the best places we have ever stayed during many years of self catering holidays and would recommend it without hesitation.

“Spotless, comfortable accomodation with fabulous surroundings and wonderful hosts - a wonderful stress release!!”

Reviewed 15 Jan 2012

Have been to this destination nine times (at least) at various times of the year. Whatever the weather the hosts are warm, the air is fresh and it's a great place to re-charge the batteries whether you want an action break, scenery, walks or whatever - there are so many activities on the doorstep. And the great thing about it is the fact that the accomodation is spot-on and never varies!!! Julie and John take care of everything themselves and any queries or advice they are just down the driveway - and nothing is too much trouble for them. We are back again in a few months time - can't wait - it's like homee from home but better!!

“Another Fantastic Week”

Reviewed 15 Jan 2012

This is the third time we have stayed at one of the cottages, having first stayed at the outstanding B&B on the same site. The cottages are wonderfully equipped and fitted out, often with beautiful oak fittings made by John (one of the owners) . It is great to arrive to find a freshly baked loaf of bread and a bottle of wine waiting. For our family of 4 it was perfect with table tennis at night (for two of us) after a day out and often a meal with fresh vegetables or salad provided from the owners vegetable patch. Great walks and mountain bike rides from the doorstep (room to keep bikes in the table tennis garage) and many more activities and attractions just a short car journey away. We could not recommend this highly enough.
