COVID-19 - Please be aware of possible short notice changes regarding the accommodation/facilities which can be found on the Penstowe website. Due to public health measures introduced by UK government, some of the on-park facilities may not be open. The accommodation will continue to have a deep clean in between guest vacations. The Laurels, 14 The Drive is a well furnished semi-detached, two-bedroom chalet, situated on the drive up to Penstowe Manor in Penstowe Park. The chalet has been freshly decorated (2019) including new flooring, is comfortably furnished with double-glazing. The lounge/dining area contains a table with seating for four. The front door opens onto a fenced patio area where you can sit and watch the wild birds or the sunset.

The open plan kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave, toaster, refrigerator and all utensils needed for a self-catering holiday. The sleeping facilities consist of a double bed in the main bedroom and two singles in the second bedroom, both bedrooms have laminate flooring and electric wall heaters. Beds will be made up for your arrival. Guests are asked to supply their own towels and tea towels. The bathroom contains a bath with an over bath electric shower, hand basin and toilet, there is also a wall heater. Please note electricity is on a meter which requires pre-paid cards available from Penstowe, although on arrival there will be enough electricity for a day or 2 depending on usage. Cars can be parked in a designated area adjacent to the chalet, giving easy access. Check in time 16.00 hours (This may be altered by prior arrangement) Check out time 10.00 hours. Please contact at least 24 hours prior to the commencement of your holiday with your planned arrival time.

Penstowe Manor House is set in 30 acres of grounds which are just perfect for your country holiday. A place where you can relax and have fun, where children can wander and play. Please note that for the 2021 season no access will be available to the leisure facilities. The Manor House will be open for bar / meals and free entertainment.

Like you I am disappointed that the terms for using the leisure facilities have been altered this year as I to enjoy a swim. However, an annual fee had to be paid before the start of the season with no guarantee when or if the facilities were to open. A decision was taken not to participate this year and it was clearly stated in the chalet descrption that no access would be avaiable to the leisure facilities for the '21 season. I am sorry the furnishings were not to your liking, I realise to many it is 'old fashioned.' I personally find the sofa comfortable and easy sitting for those less agile. Many modern sofas are too low. The pictures were chosen to reflect the local area. I am sorry they were not to your taste. I realise the single matresses are not to the quality of the double and this would be the next update - I regularly use one of the singles and have never had a bad nights sleep on them. I am not sure if it was the shower which disappointed or the fact it was over a bath. The shower was updated last year..A conscious decision was made to keep the bath for bathing small children and to give guests the option . The chalet is described as self catering and a new toilet roll and small amount of washing up equipment is left incase guests forget their own. I will make a note to mention the need for these in the arrival info. Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback and hopefully help to improve the experience to other guests.

A good place to base yourself as there is lots to do , this was our third visit and we were disappointed to find the damp smell to be stronger then on previous visits everything else was okay,

Thank you for your feedback. I am pleased you found the Chalet clean and well equipped, and the location good. The damp smell is under investigation and it is hoped to carry out work shortly to alleviate the problem. There are also plans to decorate the inside of the Chalet before next season. How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Luke (the owner) a message.

If Luke (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
