“Excellent value and lovely stay”

Reviewed 27 Mar 2017

Stayed in the chalet on a short break and had a lovely time. The chalet was nicely presented and very clean. The rooms are a good size and being able to open the patio doors in the lounge and listen to the birds was a real plus. The site is well kept and is only a short walk to the village centre. We will definately be back.

“Dissappointing”

Reviewed 22 Feb 2017

The first thing I would like to say is that the owner of this property was very quick to respond to my concerns and to sort out a solution. We arrived at the chalet late afternoon and were greeted by an overwhelming smell of damp. We thought that perhaps the place had been uninhabited for a while, put our things in, heating on and went shopping. Some hours later the rooms still smelt strongly of damp. Tired and needing to rest we sat on the sofa to watch the TV. The sofa was not very clean and under the cushions there were crumbs, sweet wrappers and dog hair. We decided there and then that we would not be able to stay and the next morning we were up and out early with our belongings packed back in the car. I contacted the owner, Ed, by text and told him that we couldn't stay and why. He very quickly rang me back and despite the fact that he did not agree that the place smelt damp (he had been there the day before) he did agree to reimburse me for the 2 nights that we had been unable to stay. He made a bank transfer very quickly. The chalet is very cheap and in a beautiful location. The park is pleasant with lots of grass and what looked like a nice pub nearby.

Lovely tranquil place. Furniture not modern but comfy and cosy place . Owners always polite and thanks again for the lovely touch of putting flowers on the table. Will be going back

“Good value”

Reviewed 26 Jul 2016

We stayed here for 4 nights, was good value for money and the chalet had everything we needed, the only down side was a very strong damp smell and no matter how long you aired the place it just came right back, think the biggest problem is the trees directly in front of the chalet which block all the sunlight out. The stables pub on site has good food and a great atmosphere, we only ventured up t poo the main house a couple of times and it was very quiet almost dead to be honest.

“Lovely chalet”

Reviewed 19 Jul 2016

We had a lovely stay here, plenty of room, well presented and found it very homely. It was clean with everything we needed for the weekend. Fresh flowers were a nice touch and the owner even left a card and chocolates as it was my birthday. Great location close to some great beaches, we were very happy and would come back again. Thank you for a pleasant stay :)

“DAMP & SMELLY”

Reviewed 9 Jul 2016

Very strong damp smell,we left a day early,we would have left first day if not visiting our family horrid accommodation, very steep paths to property very slippery when wet, total waste of money we stayed with our family four night because of smell

Owner's reply: I am sorry to learn via your review that you were not happy with the chalet. I am perplexed to hear that you feel the chalet had a very strong damp smell. The paths are the responsibility of Penstowe Park and I will ensure your comments are passed on. Regarding your comment of "horrid accommodation" I find this rather insulting. The accommodation is perfectly fine. The chalet offers very good value for money and it is difficulty to see how you could state that it was a waste of money. No extra charge was levied for your dog. The bedding, linen and towels were included in the price.
