“Lovely place off the beaten track and away from the maddening crowds”

Reviewed 13 Oct 2016

Hi Rebecca We really enjoyed our visit to the lakes and staying at the chapel. It is a great place and nice to get away from the crowds in the evenings. And the fires every night was the cherry on top! We forgot to sign the visitors book and I thought I would send you a quick message to say that we enjoyed it. Regards Chris

“Quiet Family Holiday in Excellent Accommodation”

Reviewed 28 Oct 2014

The Old Chapel has been recently refurbished to an excellent standard. Our family of 5 and dog had a great time. The kitchen and large living room with log burning stove were very comfortable and cozy. Our son loved his own living space on the balcony. Both bedrooms are very comfortable as well. The garden is enclosed which was excellent for our black lab. Ireby is a very quiet village but within easy distance to Keswick. Overall in our opinion the Old Chapel is an excellent holiday let for families and couples and can accommodate 6 people with ease. We will hopefully return some time in the future.

“Beautiful spacious accommodation, lovely area - fantastic holiday”

Reviewed 1 Dec 2013

The Old Chapel has been refurbished to a really high standard, and is a unique and beautiful place to stay. Arriving in the dark on a cold and wet night, it was so welcoming to have the woodburner blazing when we arrived. We used this loads and it warmed the place beautifully - there was ample fuel provided too. Although there were no photos of the kitchen on the website, it was really well equipped, spacious and was, like the rest of the accommodation, very clean when we got there. The fresh home-grown fruit and veg were a welcome touch as well - and were thoroughly enjoyed! Ireby is a fantastic location that is convenient for both the Lakes and the North and West Cumbrian Coast. There are some beautiful walks across countryside from the village itself - having large scale maps provided in the Old Chapel was great, as it enabled us to explore the local area on foot whilst leaving our less-energetic teenagers watching tv in front of the fire! There was also a good selection of leaflets for attractions a bit further afield too. We didn't regret booking our week at the Old Chapel one little bit and it was over far too soon!

“One of the best cottages we have stayed in.”

Reviewed 30 Aug 2013

The Old Chapel is a lovely spacious and comfortable cottage which is very well equipped.. We loved our week and look forward to returning. The owners are very friendly and close to hand if needed. We were encouraged to sample the produce in the garden and there was a bunch of rhubarb ready picked for us one day on our return. We would recommend the Snooty Fox at Uldale as we had two very nice evening meals there and the Landlady was very welcoming.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your review. Look forward to seeing you back in Ireby.
