Description from owner

Description

Rose Cottage is a beautiful and traditional 3-bedroom Lakeland cottage located in the pretty hamlet of Dockray near Ullswater and Keswick. The cottage has been lovingly restored and is situated 1 mile from the beautiful shores of Ullswater with views of fells and fantastic walking from the door. The mountain ranges of Helvellyn, Blencathra and High Street are near by. The cottage has a peaceful location, private gardens and lots of wildlife on the doorstep including red squirrels, woodpeckers and many other birds. We recently added a parking space to allow secure off road parking at the cottage.

This is a good base for exploring the Lake District National Park with the market town of Keswick only 15 minutes drive away. From the village of Dockray you can enjoy lots of walks including the National Trust's Aira Force, and Gowbarrow- famous for its daffodils that inspired the poet William Wordsworth. For the more adventurous there is a fantastic walk over The Dodds to Helvellyn.

For the more adventurous there is a fantastic walk over The Dodds to Helvellyn. Close by is the village of Glenridding with sailing club, hotels, pubs, shops and the lake steamer.

The cottage is very comfortable with oil-fired central heating from the Rayburn range in the kitchen. It has a wood burning stove in the living room and heated radiators in the kitchen and bathroom.

In the living room there is a window seat overlooking the garden and in the main bedroom the window seat overlooks gardens and has fell views. The cottage would suit up to four people having a king-sized main bedroom and two further separate single bedded rooms all with countryside and garden views. The cottage has BT broadband so WiFi is available.

Outside there is a summerhouse with a range of garden furniture, a secure bike shed and two good sized gardens. The nearest pub 'The Royal Hotel' is 50 metres away, a good friendly bar serving real ales and a variety of local foods. The cottage has a freeview TV and DVD player in the living room and CD player with Ipod docking station.

All electric and oil is provided as well as a basket of logs for the wood burner. The cottage is very clean tidy and cosy and has freshly laundered high quality white cotton bed linen.

Rose Cottage is a lovely clean and tidy cottage with an unfussy fresh feel with new furniture, beds and bedding. Please bring your own towels.

Very sorry but no smoking allowed at this property., also sorry but no pets are allowed.

Unfortunately the cottage is not really suitable for people with restricted mobility due to the bedrooms being upstairs with slightly narrow cottage stairs.

The England region

The Cumbria/Lake District region
The Lake District conjures up images of magnificent mountains and shimmering lakes and that is exactly what visitors find here. In fact the whole county of Cumbria is home to some of Britain's most beautiful scenery. This region has been a favourite all year round holiday destination for years and apart from its natural beauty it's also packed with lots of attractions and activities that cater for every kind of holidaymaker, from family holidays to romantic breaks for couples and from those who are looking for lots of activities and sports to those that prefer more gentle country pursuits. A well presented cottage full of charm and yet perfect for the family. A great setting close to the lake for swimming and boating and not far from Keswick and Penrith. A wonderful holiday, and a fantastic peaceful location. I would thoroughly recommend it.

Thank you for your nice review and glad you enjoyed your stay at the cottage and holiday in the Lake District
