The Hyning Estate offers a range of luxurious, 5 star dwellings and many are just made for couples wanting to find their "Home from Home" in The Lakes & Dales or a peaceful retreat for a short break. Friendly Service, Panoramic views, Exceptional Design, The Best Quality materials, Attention to Detail, Re-use and Sustainability are all our Hallmarks.

We are Cumbria Tourism's Self-Catering Holiday of the Year 2015 winners and all properties are Visit England 5 Star Gold and Green Tourism Gold.

This listing is for The Carriage House which has one large luxurious bedroom and is normally booked by 2 people. The Carriage House is on ground level with wide doors and an accessible shower and it is also suitable for someone travelling with a friend or relative with limited mobility. There is an extra single bed in the bedroom suitable for a Carer or you could simply use it as a family bedroom for a young family.

The Carriage House is beautifully presented and has been renovated to the highest standards with Oak fittings, Triple glazing and under floor heating. Inside you'll find an Oak Kitchen with Granite Surfaces and Butler sink, Bosch & Neff Appliances (including Induction Hob, Double-oven, Microwave, dishwasher, Washer-Dryer), free Wi-Fi, DAB radio / CD with iPod dock, large Samsung LED TV with Blue Ray DVD player, Satellite TV with HD and International channels. Beautiful curtains, blinds and hangings complement high quality light oak & leather furniture. Generously sized bathrooms feature walk-in showers and large baths with high quality fittings and Oak / Ceramic basins.

“Five star in every way.”

This was our second visit to The Hyning Estate. We stayed in The Tack Barn. Beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. After a freezing day fell walking lovely to return 'home' to a hot bath and log fire. Thanks again for the jam, cheese, bread and chutney. Thank you.

The Hyning Estate is such a lovely quiet place just what we wanted to get away from it all and relax. Easy enough to get to the town of Kendal and local supermarket and shops with a 10-15min drive. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay & we definitely would visit again. I've stayed at many cottages/accommodation and this has to rate as one of the very best. The owners Richard & Jan were very helpful from booking, throughout our stay to leaving.

If you're thinking about booking a stay at the Hyning Estate don't hesitate...do it now! We had a fantastic three night stay in the Carriage House, which was everything it promised to be on the website and more! The accommodation really is luxury and provides a real home from home (if not better!) The owners have thought of every detail and were very friendly - the wine and local goodies on our arrival were much appreciated! Three nights just wasn't long enough...it just means we'll have to go back :-)

Lovely cottage with great views of Lake District from every point. High quality furnishings and fittings and really enjoyed the complimentary goodies including wine local cheese bread and pickles especially. Great location for both lakes and Yorkshire sights but away from the crowds...perfect

Finally accommodation that lived up to its 5 * rating. The whole place exudes quality on arrival. We stayed in the Carriage House which sleeps 2, with everything on one level. All fixtures and fittings are of the highest quality.

We had such a great time staying at the carriage house. Wonderful furniture, really nice welcoming gifts such as a bottle of wine, some delicious spiced apple and some damson jam. The place is simply gorgeous and Richard and Jan are adorable people. We want to come back as soon as possible!

We have recently returned from a 7 night stay at the Hyning Estate with our two small children. We stayed in The Carriage House and found it perfect. The cottage is fitted out to a very high standard with everything you could possibly wish for in a self catering cottage. The beds are so comfy that our 1 year old actually slept through a few nights!! The location of the properties is ideal, only a few minutes drive to Kendal and around 20 minutes or so to Windermere (traffic depending). Richard and Jan are lovely hosts and we definitely recommend a visit to the on site bar. All round fantastic stay and we would definitely recommend a visit here, we'll certainly look to be returning.

everything we could have asked for - modern, welcoming, nice thoughtful touches and very well equipped accommodation. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Beautifully renovated and in a tranquil pretty setting. Well heated and with all items for kitchen in situ, was very relaxing and wonderful place to stay - we hope to stay again.

We chose Hyning because it is relatively new inside (about 18 months), while the outside is very old. It was a great location for us between the Yorkshire dales and the Lake District. All new appliances (that did take us a bit to work out, especially the dishwasher and washing machine - thank heavens for the manual). But the welcome was superb, with the yummiest bread, jam and especially the onion jam - awesome. Great location for a couple or an extended family. And thanks to Richard for being so helpful with a few things I needed to print. Must dos: Borrowdale Castle Crag; Ingleton waterfall walk; Grasmere.

We stayed in the Carriage House at the Hyning Estate for two weeks this Summer. Drawing from our experience last year, we were sure to have another amazing time staying with Richard and Jan. We love staying at the Carriage House for its space and facilities. The apartment sleeps 3 people, a king-size bed and a single bed in the same room. Since it’s just the two of us, we have all the room we could ask for. The kitchen is very well-equipped (better than our own) and gives you limitless possibilities to cook and bake to your heart’s content. The double oven and induction cooker are a treat. The dishwasher is a fantastic extra, so you don’t have to bother with doing the dishes after cooking in the afternoon. Morrison’s supermarket is a ten-minute drive towards Kendal and it is extremely well stocked and offers a great range of fresh fish, meat and deli produce. Also, three farmer’s markets and shops are nearby. The beef they sell is phenomenal for a Sunday Roast. The bathroom is something to come back for. The huge overhead shower and a gorgeous bath tub really help you relax after a day exploring the Dales or the Lake District. We plan on visiting the area some other time than Summer to see how the scenery changes and to finally get a go at the wood burner in the living room. We didn’t have the courage to fire it up in July… The standards that Richard and Jan have are exceptional. The apartments (looking at the Carriage House and the Byre Bar) are decorated to such an amazing level, you can really see the love that went into it. Not to mention the dedication to the Green aspect without compromising sheer luxury. We came across this gem last year by chance, but we will certainly be back over and over again. The families that visit the Hyning come there to relax and to enjoy the surrounding area. The grounds are quiet, yet there always is an invitation to anyone who wants to have a pint in the bar and meet Richard and Jan or the other guests. We love the conversations we had. If you are looking for a romantic getaway, be sure to consider one of the apartments at the Hyning Estate. You will not regret indulging in the luxury of fantastic beds, spectacular bathrooms and relaxing in the ambiance of your own living room for one minute.
