Description from owner

Description

Beatrix Cottage sits on a rocky forested hillside overlooking the beautiful fertile Kaya Valley.
Across the valley the deserted "Ghost Town" of Kayakoy clings to the mountainside. Volumes have been written about Kayakoy and both text and photos may be readily found with a Google search. Less is recorded about the valley which is the home of 1,500 or so of the friendliest of Turkish farmers and fishers who harvest the very best fruits of both for the nutrition and enjoyment of you the guest.. With no immediate neighbors and set in its own small wood, the cottage offers complete quiet and privacy for the stressed out professional or honeymooners.
The Kaya peninsular is ideal for walkers, there being beautiful trails at a height of up to 200meters above sea level along the wooded slopes of the limestone mountains. Walk for an hour to get to small or large beaches, often with small restaurants and some with water-sports. The famous lagoon of Olu Deniz is a spectacular sight

The famous lagoon of Olu Deniz is a spectacular sight from a hight of 150 meters but loses some natural beauty from up-close.
Mountain bicycles are provided and for the less practiced there is a tricycle. The village has several shops supplying basic provisions and a short bus-ride will have guests at well stocked supermarkets, bakeries and green-grocers selling the best produce of the Eastern Med'
A folding bed or cot is available for a child.

Location description from owner

The Turkish Aegean Coast region

The Kaya Valley was not only the setting of the town of Kayakoy [but Greek "Levissi"] until its abandonment in 1923 but was also the site of the Lycian city of Karmylassos some 2,000 years before. Many rock tombs remain and beautifully carved stones may be found scattered around the houses, fields and restaurants of the valley.
Restaurants in the valley are a little too numerous but the best vary to suit all tastes and pockets. A simple snack may be had at charming family run cafes and truly excellent meals may be had in some unforgettable settings.
Previous visitors to Turkey or Greece will know that one may sit for quiet hours of the day sitting in the shade and sipping a cool refreshing drink at any of the restaurants.

Kayakoy

Many sites of historical interest including ancient theaters, sarcophagus and mosaics. Car advisable for such but public transport possible. Boat trips are a great bargain but note that Turkish "Sailing" is under power!
