Location description from owner

The Paphos District

Paphos, once the ancient capital of Cyprus is set in the south-west of the island on a stunning stretch of coastline. Once divided into two separate areas, Kato (lower) Paphos and Ktima or Pano (upper) Paphos have gradually expanded and joined to form one large town. There are so many archaeological and historical sites that virtually the whole town has been added to the UNESCO list of World Cultural Heritage Sites. Characteristically however, Kato Paphos and Ktima remain very different from each other. Both have their own historic cultural sites and attractions. Kato Paphos is the vibrant tourist area, whilst the charming old town of Ktima is the residential, retail and commercial area, with its narrow winding streets, market and familiar shops such as Next and Marks and Spencer.

Being in the southern Mediterranean, Cyprus stays warmer longer, and boasts at least 340 days of sunshine a year, with average winter temperatures in Paphos of around 16C, making it an all year round resort. Greek culture prevails, but most people speak English which makes getting around and being understood very easy. Driving is on the left, with all road and most street signs are in English as well as Greek.Beautiful countryside, historic sights and sporting activities, the Paphos region has something for all the family, whether you are a sun seeker looking for a relaxing holiday or an explorer looking for new places to visit, with great scenery thrown in. You will find four championship golf courses, water parks, ten-pin bowling, mini-golf, walking/hiking, scuba diving, sailing, mini-cruising, jeep safaris, cycling, sailing and horse riding, with skiing and snowboarding in the Troodos Mountains during the winter months.

There are several beaches in the Paphos area boasting Blue Flag status offering a wide range of water sports.

The impressive Troodos mountain range offer a cool sanctuary with long walks in its scented pine forests in summer with winter sports and skiing in winter.

Pass through banana plantations and discover the dramatic coastline and countryside of the Akamas Peninsular. Visit the wild and unspoiled Lara Beach, the last nesting site of the Green Turtle. Wander through the Avakas Gorge where sheer limestone walls rise 30 meres high on either side, producing a unique natural wonder.

Cyprus is more than a beach and sunshine destination: its mountains and hills, cooler than the coastal belt, offer some fine walking in unspoiled country. The fertile mountainous landscape of the surrounding countryside and villages make the area a delight for the walker and naturalist. Try one of the well signposted paths or trails constructed by the Forestry Commission and enjoy spectacular views of unspoiled nature.

For the more energetic, there's mountain biking, sea kayaking, rock climbing, trekking and cycling.

Kato Paphos

Only a 15 minute drive from the airport, Sirena George is situated in the Universal area of Kato Paphos and less than a 15 minute walk to the vibrant tourist area, where you will find the hotels, beaches, pedestrianised promenade, shops, picturesque harbour, pavement cafes, restaurants and bars.

When it comes to eating out and entertainment, Paphos caters for all tastes, you will find everything from fast food in KFC to fresh fish in a harbour-side restaurant. Entertainment can be found in the numerous bars, tavernas, pavement cafes, several discos and nightclubs.

“Best Holiday Ever !!!”

Reviewed 12 Jul 2016

From the minute I booked this holiday Sue was there for me, I was nervous as it was first time doing separate booking flights etc but sue made me feel very calm, Location was fab you could walk to the harbor in 15 mins so if you wanted busy you could or you could stay by apartment with lovely restaurant near by. Pool was spotless and very peaceful. there was everything you could want or need in the apartment. The bus service is brill you can go anywhere nice buses as well inside. Coral Bay 40 mins on the bus. If you want to travel around the island get a ire car. Nothing to say regards negative as it was all good.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a lovely review and for the five star rating. It was a pleasure to welcome you all to Sirena George. I’m so pleased you enjoyed your holiday and hope that should you visit Paphos again, you will choose to stay with us.

“First class accommodation”

Reviewed 8 Apr 2013

Good accommodation is of the up most importance to us when we go on holiday. We were certainly not disappointed with Serena George. The attention to detail is outstanding, all the little things you will need are there. The apartment is spotlessly clean. We had a very comfortable stay, The pool is great, there are sun loungers for your exclusive use. We made good use of the newly installed wi-fi and there is a safe to lock away your valuables. We had breakfast on the balcony overlooking the pool and soaking up the morning sun every day except for one when went to Pambi's, a little Taverna which is about 3 to 4 minutes walk, We ate there four times in all once for breakfast, two evening meals and a lunch, they were very friendly and have quite a varied menu which is very reasonably priced. We had great fun on the Thursday evening at their quiz night, The owner of the apartment was very helpful from the outset and couldn't do enough to help make our stay a trouble free one. We would highly recommend this property if you are considering self catering in Kato Paphos.

Really pleased you liked the apartment and you all enjoyed your holiday. Many thanks for taking the time to write a lovely review for us, we very much appreciate your comments and hope to see you all again soon.

“Absolutley Fantastic, Perfect Place to Relax, Apartment Superb with Great Facilities”

Reviewed 21 Jan 2013

I've stayed here a couple of times and cannot fault anything. The apartment is in the Sirena George complex which is one of the smallest in the Area which means it is always peaceful and quiet, even at the height of summer, with the majority of the apartments privately owned The Pool is perfect, it's never too busy and sunbeds are available for the apartment, the Pool and surrounding area is thoroughly cleaned every day with the pool being cleaned every couple of days. The apartment is within walking distance from Kato Paphos, however car parking is provided if you want to explore what Cyprus has to offer. The Apartment itself if superb, it has all the facilities you need, including washing machine. Well decorated and very spacious with 2 good sized bedrooms as well as 2 Bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. There are plenty of books to read and various DVD's should you exhaust all the reading material you take over Bedrooms and Main Room are fully air conditioned with loads of cupboards, wardrobes and storage space. The balcony is excellent with a south facing aspect so you get the sun all day, it will easily accommodate 4 people around the table. Umbrellas are in the Apartment should you need a break from the midday sun. Spent many an evening relaxing on the balcony enjoying the peace and quiet while the sun sets The owner was great, everything was arranged and she is always going the extra mile to ensure that everything was as expected. The apartment has always been well prepared and it is always immaculate! Overall it is an excellent place to stay, I cannot recommend it highly enough, I used to stay in Hotels in Paphos, but now I have found it, I will not be staying anywhere else Highly Recommended

Thank you for your lovely comments and positive feedback. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and look forward to welcoming you again to Sirena George.
