Location description from owner

The Ionian Islands region

Kefalonia is a beautiful island, very green with spectacular sea views and mountain scenery. Karavados is a charming village situated near the south-west coast within easy reach of a superb selection of sandy beaches with clear turquoise seas. Also within easy reach are many traditional Greek Tavernas, one within walking distance.

There are many places of interest to visit from underground lakes and caves with stalactites and stalagmites to St Gerasimos Monastery with its stunning murals. Myrtos beach is one of the most photographed beaches in the world.

A holiday on Kefalonia is definitely a sunshine holiday, it only rains approximately 30 days in every year.

Karavados

Many of the island's beaches offer a range of watersports facilities and horseriding facilities are also available. The island offers a number of historic tourist attractions including St George's Castle and the ruins of a Venetian fort at Assos.

Argostoli, the island's capital, has a bustling city square and a wide selection of bars, tavernas and shops. Ferries can be taken from Argostoli to Lixouri, on the island's western peninsula. Giant turtles can be found in Argostoli Bay patrolling the fishing boats for titbits whilst the local fishermen sell their daily catches each morning to the public at the harbour's edge.

Ferries can also be used to island-hop to Ithaca, Zakynthos and Lefkas.

“Fabulous Luxury Villa in Karavados”

Reviewed 19 Jun 2015

This is our second stay in this wonderful property, we last stayed here six years ago and it is as nice now as it was then. The villa is clean and exceptionally well maintained. Everything is taken care of and there are many thoughtful touches. The villa is spacious and cool thanks to the air conditioning. The pool area is fantastic and we used the barbecue on a couple of the nights when we weren't eating out in the wonderful local restaurants that were recommended by the owners. You will need a car to get to the beach, restaurants and shops which are around 15 minutes away as Karavados is a little village set on the hillside. Highly recommended for a relaxing family holiday.

“Lovely holiday villa”

Reviewed 6 Sep 2014

A great booking experience as the owners were prompt and reliable. The villa was well maintained and had all amenities you could require when on holidays. Garden and pool were well looked after and very pleasant to spend time in. We took two small children aged 3 & 6 and this villa was safe and secure for them to play, with no steep steps or staircases as we have experienced in other properties. Towels were changed regularly and a linen change half way through the holiday along with a refresh of the bathrooms was carried out with the minimum of intrusion. Its well situated for visits to several local beaches and a short drive from some lovely tavernas, although there is a taverna within walking distance. The views are impressive and several night were spent sitting on the veranda, sipping wine and watching the sunset after a BBQ! One small thing that could be changed to improve the villa would be door catches to hold the french doors open. It was quite windy when we stayed and we enjoy turning the air con off and opening the doors. Without placing chairs to hold them open they would slam closed. Other than that it was perfect and a great holiday was had by all!

“Wonderful Villa on a beautiful island!”

Reviewed 16 Aug 2014

Villa Marbirini is very well equipped and more than comfortable with all the amenities you need and then some. The villa was very clean when we arrived and the welcome pack was truly welcomed! The pool is very welcoming and we used it daily. The outside area is large and the views all around, of Mount Enos and Zante, are lovely. Having the wifi was appreciated by adults and our teenage sons alike! Kefalonia is a beautiful island and Villa Marbirini is an excellent base from which to explore it. There are recommendations of tavernas, beaches and places to visit in the villa which helped us to make good choices! We would highly recommend this villa!

“Another fantastic stay at Villa Marbirini”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2013

Returned to Villa Marbirini for the second year running - we were not disappointed. Villa as spotless and perfect as last year - with the addition of wifi. Owners always incredibly helpful so booking process and information excellent. Would not hesitate to recommend the Villa for a lovely holiday on a beautiful island.

“A peaceful villa in an excellent location”

Reviewed 23 Sep 2012

An extremely comfortable and well-equipped villa with a good pool. The pool area is private and well-sighted, giving some areas of shade during the day whilst allowing sun worshippers a complete fix. The villa is within 20 minutes of the airport, great for getting into the holiday quickly. Argostoli 15-20 mins so shopping etc no problems at all. There are lots of good beaches close by and a great choice of local tavernas and restaurants within short driving distance. Fabulous views across the Ionian Sea to Zakynthos. We will certainly return.

“Fantastic villa, lovely location, couldn't fault it!!”

Reviewed 2 Jul 2012

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday at Villa Marbirini. From first contact, the owners have been more than helpful and very prompt in replying to queries. Before the holiday we received a v. detailed info pack with everything we could need to know about the island, villa, local amenities etc. The villa was spotlessly clean, comfortable and one of the best equipped we have stayed in - home from home. The owners representatives met us on arrival and were v. helpful - cleaning and laundry changes were done efficiently and discreetly. Fabulous clean pool, meticulously maintained every day, usually before most people surfaced. We loved the local St Thomas' beach but Myrthos is stunning and well worth a visit on the way to Firskardo. Argostoli great for wonderful fruit and veg and a fantastic bakery - don't miss seeing the giant turtles in the bay. Local taverna Happiness, great value and friendly but favourite The Olive Tree. Kefalonia is a beautiful island and Villa Marbirini the perfect place to stay. No hesitation in recommending it - we hope to return!

“Wonderful base for a holiday”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2011

Villa Marbirini provided us with a wonderful holiday. We've stayed in loads of villas in many countries and this was definitely one of the best. Important things such as cleanliness, pool hygiene, and cookking utensils were all oustanding. We nearly stayed in or near Fiskardo but ended up booking this villa instead not having visited Kefalonia before. We were lucky. It is a long way to Fiskardo and the south part of the island provides a much better base for your holiday. All in all we can really recommend, the villa, the owners, the agents who met us and the island. Greatr holiday

“Brilliant villa with everything you need!”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2011

Our enquiries to the owners were always answered very quickly and the information we received was very accurate and honest - this is a professional service. On arrival the villa was very clean and well presented and with an excellent ‘welcome’ hamper, which was a nice touch. We were met on time, made very welcome and shown how everything worked. The representatives were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. When the party split into two groups we gave our son the front door key, which he thought didn’t work so they got us new keys cut immediately. The villa itself is excellent and has every facility and appliance we needed. Everything was in A1 condition and everywhere was spotless. It is extremely well looked after and can’t be faulted. It is very spacious and considering there were five adults it did not feel crowded. It is very well set out, has all the facilities you need for a holiday and has a lovely ambience. It is very easy to chill out and relax. The pool is great and was cleaned every day - the ladies particularly enjoyed watching the pool man! The area around the pool is nicely laid out with plenty of sunbeds, chairs, etc. Touring the island was a great adventure - lots to see and do and we didn’t cover all of it. We were emailed a copy of the villa information pack before our holiday. It was very useful and was used to plan our days out and dining options. We used the BBQ twice and it was a pleasant alternative. The men cooked and the ladies relaxed and were pampered. If we were to visit the island again then we would definitely consider using the villa again! We would highly recommend it to all. Thanks for a lovely holiday! Richard, Sheila and family, Berks. June 2011.

“Lovely Island, Excellent accomodation”

Reviewed 16 Jul 2011

-One of the most enjoyable aspects of our stay at Villa Marbirini was having a ‘home for home’ with all the facilities we needed. The island itself is quiet and relaxing and the Greek roads don’t disappoint, they are ‘lovely’ to drive! Everything ran smoothly right from our first enquiry - when we booked the service was very efficient, we received lots of information before we travelled and on arrival we were met on time and received a warm welcome. The villa was very clean and well-presented and all the facilities both indoors and outdoors exceeded our expectations. We particularly enjoyed the experience of Greek night, with Greek buffet and dancing on Thursday evening at Andromeda. We would definitely recommend the villa and consider returning there in future. The villa was all the owners said it would be and we had a very relaxing time. Thanks for your efficiency and a most enjoyable holiday… Pete and Bridget, Norfolk, UK. June 2011
