Location description from owner

The Turkish Mediterranean Coast region

Kalkan is an old Greek town on the Turkish Riviera with small streets full of colourful shops, antique jewellers and historical buildings.

Kalkan and the surrounding villages have many historical sites on the doorstep, Xanthos, Pinara, Tlos and Sidyma; with their amphitheatres and tombs, Kekova; the sunken city best reached using a local boat.
The famous beach at Patara is simply splendid - 20 km long - where sea turtles now lay their eggs in a protected area, is a 20 minute drive away from Kalkan. Patara was the birthplace of St. Nicholas who later passed into the legend as Santa Claus.

For the more adventurous, try canoeing down the Xanthos river, followed by a relaxing mud bath or if you're looking for more excitement, try tandem paragliding - a really exciting way to spend a day. Saklikent Gorge is a fun day out combined with a fresh trout lunch. Horse riding available at nearby Patara beach.

These trips can be arranged through many of the local tour specialists in Kalkan.
Enjoy the turquoise water for snorkelling and swimming, or the pine forests leading to the nearby mountains.

Kalkan

Although once an Ottoman-Greek fishing village, Kalkan has escaped mass tourism with a very good restaurant scene. Take a stroll along the charming waterfront and you will be enticed by the impressive choice of restaurants Kalkan has to offer.

Kaputas Beach, a lovely, sandy swimming cove nestled at the foot of a striking mountain gorge. The water is always a brilliant turquoise blue. Kaputas beach is 5 km away from Kalkan. A stunning beach accessible by a long flight of stairs. You can reach here by catching a local Dolmus - (Turkish minibus), taxi or drive if you hire a car.

Every Thursday there is a local market, providing fresh vegetables and clothes.

There are plenty of boats that offer daily trips, often with a meal included,. Taxi boat provide all day transport to the many beach clubs across the bay. There is a shingle beach in Kalkan, sunbeds and parasols can be hired for a small fee. Guests also have use of the Samira De Luxe hotel, a 2 minute walk away. There is a pool table and a bar around the large pool, also they provide a food 'take-away' service.

“Just returned from the most fantastic place”

Reviewed 16 Sep 2016

Have just returned from a 10 day stay at Villa Manzara. What a fabulous place it is...everything you need and more for a relaxing stay! It was perfect. The views are stunning. Many a day and eve spent on the terrace. The pool was lovely as well along with the sunbeds. It's just a 15 minute walk into town which was fine but we didn't walk back as it was so hot but taxi worked out at around £3 so no problem at all. Paula was great at communicating when I had any queries and very helpful and I would not hesitate to stay at this little gem again on my return to Kalkan

Ali Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. You were perfect guests and look forward to welcoming you back to Villa Manzara again soon!

“Fantastic Villa, great location, great views”

Reviewed 28 Jun 2016

Stayed in this Villa for 10 days and couldn't of been happier. From the time of booking, Paula the owner kept in contact with us and gave us some great restaurant ideas as well as other useful information. The Villa is in a great location, very quiet and only a 10 minute walk into the town (all downhill as Kalkan is very steep). Only £2.50-£3.00 for a taxi back. Lots of lovely restaurants to eat at and everybody makes you so welcome. Third time in Kalkan and already booked flights for next June and we will be staying in this lovely Villa again. Also very well looked after whilst out there by Cumar who comes daily to clean the pool and if any issues he comes straight away .... not that there was. Highly recommended.

Delighted you enjoyed your holiday, thank you for taking the time to write a review

“Perfect Location, stunning views!”

Reviewed 30 Sep 2015

This Villa is perfect for two couples or Two parents with 2 children over 5. Easy to get to the town (15 mins downhill). Close to the Samira Hotel ( Handy for a game of pool or early evening drinks!) Spotlessly clean. Everything you need for self-catering and BBQs on the lovely terrace overlooking Kalkan Bay. English speaking Movies on TV if you wish. I would highly recommend. Would definately return. The owner is very easy to communicate with and answers all your question very promptly and in a very friendly manner. The Taylors and friends.

Thank you so much for taking the time writing a review - much appreciated and hope it will be of help to other guests wishing you to book. Look forward to welcoming you back - 5 star guests!!
