REVIEWS

"We had an absolutely fabulous time, with the facilities suiting us perfectly. Just the right levels of accommodation, to suit us as a couple, with a lovely veranda which we enjoyed sitting on, relaxing and enjoying the surrounding's which were very pretty.

The staff on the resort were very helpful and accommodating, and the facilities suited us perfectly."

Nick Carter June 2013

" The apartment is one of the best we have ever stayed in and we would go back there at the drop of a hat ! The view from the apartment and terrace is a stunning view across Kalkan bay both during the day but equally at night when the lights are on. We would have no hesitation in recommending both the town of Kalkan, the resort and especially this aparrtment to anyone."

Location description from owner

The Turkish Mediterranean Coast region

The Lycian coast of Turkey is aptly named the Turquoise coast with exquisite, clear blue sea water. Below the Patara Prince Resort , the sea is fed by springs, resulting in the cleanest and purest sea water in the Mediterranean. Although the Kalkan coast is dramatic and rocky, Patara beach, voted by The Sunday Times as one of the most beautiful and unspoilt beaches in the Mediterranean, has 18 km of white sand and is approx a 15 mins drive. Kaputas is a sandy beach approx 10 mins drive away. Kalkan's climate is considered to be the best in Turkey with 300 days sunshine every year and very low humidity. Kalkan is on the route of the Lycian Way, which offers walkers stunning scenery and many archaelogical sites on its route. There are many ancient sites within easy reach of Kalkan including Xanthos, Pinara, Tlos and Patara. Further afield are the well known sites of Olympus, Kekova, Myra and Ephesus.

Kalkan

The enchanting historic town of Kalkan was once a small fishing village. Today it still retains its charm in spite of increasing sophistication due to its popularity with international visitors. The winding, cobbled streets teem with life at night to the accompaniment of jazz and blues music wafting from bars and restaurants. Kalkan boasts more than sixty fine restaurants , many set at roof top level, offering excellent Turkish and European cuisine at reasonable prices. There are several good quality food shops including supermarkets, boutiques selling everything from bikinis to pashminas, and all essential daily needs are well catered for. A range of outdoor activities are available from Kalkan including diving, snorkelling, canoeing, water skiing, sailing, para gliding and windsurfing. Regular boat trips from Kalkan harbour explore the area and beautiful coastline, including the well known gulet cruises. Spend an unforgettable day on a boat or gulet, cruising the crystal clear waters, soaking up endless hours of blissful sunshine whilst dining on a superb lunch cooked specially for your party by your skipper/chef. Patara Prince Resort is nestled on a 60 acre secluded sea front estate along the Kalkan bay. It has beautiful landscaped gardens and wonderful facilities which include 4 pools, windsurfing, water skiing, snorkelling, scuba diving, Turkish bath, spa, indoor pool and gym, tennis courts, volley ball, snooker/pool table, table tennis, sun beds, and platforms right on the edge of the water for sunbathing and relaxing. In addition, there are bars, including a piano bar in peak season, and three very good restaurants. Essential supplies can be bought at a small supermarket in the resort. A regular shuttle boat between the resort and Kalkan harbour offers a more glamorous way to do your shopping and there is a shuttle minibus running through the resort , as cars are offloaded and then parked outside the main gates of the Patara. Some of the facilities are not available outside the peak tourist season which runs from May to October.

“Charming and idyllic apartment and location, just right for an able bodied couple who want the choice to just relax”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2013

The Patara apartment forms part of the Patara Princess resort located on the opposite side of the bay to the main town of Kalkan, which when sat on balcony allows you to enjoy the very picturesque views both during the day and at night. This allows you to come away from the town, after enjoying a meal at one of the many rooftop restaurants and contributes to a peaceful and relaxing time. The apartment is equipped to allow you to prepare your own meals if you choose, although the choice and quality of food in the town's restaurants saw us eating out every evening, however it was nice to have the choice to prepare you own breakfast, at the start of a lazy day. The resort itself is self-contained, with sea water swimming pools, and lovely sun bathing terraces which take you down to the cooling blue waters of the Mediterranean sea. The apartment was clean and enabled us to relax and be very comfortable in our surrounding's, which coupled with the terraced nature of the resort and location of the apartment mean't you had a great deal of peaceful privacy.

“A blissful week in the sunshine”

Reviewed 25 Jun 2013

We were slightly unsure what to expect of the Patara Prince resort as neither of us are generally "resort" fans, however it provided us with the perfect location for a really relaxing break. The resort consists of a main hotel with gym, restaurant, spa facilities etc (which apartment dwellers can use) and multiple apartments set into the hillside. In effect it is a bit like a small artificial village. It offers the perfect combination of seclusion (as the apartment is very well equipped, enabling guests to prepare their own meals) or inclusion, with a number of bars and restaurants as well as two pools, sports facilities and a shop. The apartment itself was lovely with a great terrace overlooking Kalkan Bay and the owner was very helpful and great to deal with. The resort is VERY hilly with everything being either up or down multiple flights of steps. I am sure I have firmer thighs as a result of our week which is great, I would however warn anyone with pushchairs, wheelchairs or just people who are a bit lazy that it is quite hard work climbing the steps in the heat! There is a shuttle bus going around the resort which helps. The best thing about the resort is the bathing platforms with direct access to the sea. Total bliss. The shop at the top of the resort is VERY expensive, definitely use only for essentials and buy your main groceries elsewhere. Go on a boat trip. We did and it was great. Similarly great was a trip to Islamar for dinner in the mountains. Take a jacket as it is markedly cooler than the bay. All in all, a great break, a fantastic location and a lovely apartment.
