Location description from owner

The Turkish Mediterranean Coast region

Kalkan is situated on the Turquoise coast between the towns of Fethiye and Kas. Nestled in a bay at the foot of the Taurus Mountains the area affords spectacular sea and mountain views. There are plenty of areas of historical and geographical interest within a short driving distance. Patara, Xanthos, Thlos and Myra, the river gorge at Saklikent and the famous beach of Olu Deniz are all less than 1 hour from Kalkan.

Boat trips can be arranged locally. A day at sea with a wonderful BBQ lunch and all for only £15 per person! Or you can visit one of the local beach clubs who offer private bathing platforms and steps into the sea, usually a small fee is payable.

Kalkan

During the day Kalkan is a quiet sleepy village. You can wander round the maze of cobbled streets, stop at a cafe for coffee, apple tea or a cold Efes beer and just watch the world go by.

At night Kalkan comes alive. It has over 120 restaurants serving a wide variety of choices with many offering roof terraces where you can dine under the stars and watch the sun set over the sea. After dinner you can relax in one of the music bars, stroll along the harbour or visit many of the quaint shops which stay open until very late.

Kalkan has several banks (with ATM machines), post office, doctors surgery, pharmacies, supermarkets and the usual array of shops selling jewellery, shoes/handbags, ceramics, paintings and carpets.

Although it is without a doubt, the people of Kalkan who make this a very special place and have friends returning year after year.

The villa is a 15 min stroll to the village.

“Ideal villa in perfect location”

Reviewed 30 Aug 2016

Villa Palm was for us (family of 4, 2 teenage sons) completely perfect. It has lots of space, three bathrooms and is really great on a practical level, with lots of storage and the teenage essential WiFi connection, but we also really loved the views across the bay from virtually all the rooms in the house. We spent hours just gazing out to sea or watching the moon rise over the mountain - completely beautiful. The villa really felt like a home rather than a holiday let and there was really nothing I can suggest to improve it. The arrangements to rent it were really smooth and Donna was exceptionally helpful and efficient, and gave us loads of useful information on car hire and visits/restaurants. We booked with Brave Tours car hire and everything was really reasonable and well organised. On arrival the villa was spotlessly clean with a much appreciated welcome pack, and we had 2 more visits from the lovely cleaner who also changed the sheets/towels etc, so it was fresh and clean all through our stay. The pool area is fabulous with lots of space and very comfortable sun beds - and of course those fabulous views! Kalkan itself was as lovely as ever and we ate out every night and had some lovely meals - the Nar and Olive Garden being favourites. We also booked Captain Ali and his boat Zeus and had a brilliant and memorable day sailing round the islands and swimming in secluded coves - highly recommended. We very much hope to return to Kalkan in future and if we do we will arrange around Villa Palm availability as it was, for us, perfect.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review of Villa Palm. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay in our Turkish home. It would be a pleasure to welcome you back to stay anytime.

“A True Turkish Delight”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2016

Villa Palm is absolutely FABULOUS!! Views to die for from every terrace and window, which overlook the beautiful town of Kalkhan and it's beautiful harbour. This was our 5th time to Turkey yet, our 1st to Kalkhan and we had an amazing time. Donna arranged our transfers to and from the airport which ran smoothly. On arrival there was a welcome pack, which was a nice touch. An even nicer touch was the mobile phone with taxi and restaurant numbers,oh and Ali the boat man.Ali's boat is a must!!. Highly recommended. Villa Palm is so spacious, with couches on every terrace to chillax from the midday heat either with a book or a cold beer or 2. The pool area was very spacious with outdoor table, chairs and barbeque, plus further couches with umbrellas to chillax and cool down. Such a spacious, clean and beautiful villa. Highly recommended. Thank -you Donna. Will return.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review of your holiday in Villa Palm. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay. Good too to know that you had a great boat trip on Zeus with Ali, we agree it is a wonderful way to spend a day. It would be a pleasure to welcome you back anytime.

“FABULOUS”

This is by far the best villa we have had the pleasure of staying in on a holiday.Donna the owner of the property could not have done more for us from booking until leaving, from organising transfers to leaving us much appreciated welcome pack including a bottle of champagne for my birthday,so thoughtful!!! The villa is maintained to a very high standard and nothing has been forgotten about in respect of fittings and furnishings, all the comforts of home and more. The views from the property are outstanding, the outside areas are quite amazing, and the cleanliness and maintenance wonderful. Kalkan itself is a joy with lots of lovely restaurants serving great food, and everybody we met so very very friendly, nothing a problem. We loved it so much cant wait to return next year!! Thanks for letting us share your piece of paradise Ellen and family

Very many thanks for your kind comments. We are really pleased you had a fabulous holiday in Villa Palm and enjoyed celebrating your birthday in Kalkan so much that you have chosen to do it all again next year! Look forward to welcoming you back in 2013.

“HOME FROM HOME + THE WEATHER”

Reviewed 28 Aug 2012

This is our 2nd stay at Villa Palm and we would recommend it to anyone. From booking your holiday right up to the transfer company dropping you back off at the airport for your flight home it is pure bliss. The owner Donna is so proffesional as well as friendly and helpful at every stage of the process. The property is fabulous in that it is exactly what it says on the tin. Stunning views over the beautiful bay - nicely positioned just outside of the town so you can have the peace that you probably deserve after a hard 12 months at work. Also being a little higher up from the town you have the benefit of a nice breeze that takes the edge of that mid-day heat. It is kept beautifully clean and has every little item you would have in your own home. This year I needed a tape measure and what was in the kitchen drawer - yes you got it - a tape measure. Gareth the property manager is always on hand to answer any of your questions regarding either the property or the area without him calling on you all of the time so your privacy is fully respected. Spotlessly clean and maintained beautifully. For those of you reading this I take it you do not need telling that we will be booking this villa again & again & again & again.

Many thanks for your kind comments and for your return visit. So pleased you felt at home in Villa Palm, our aim is that all our guests have a similar experience. I look forward to welcoming you 'home' in the near future!

“Super Fantastic holiday at Villa Palm”

Reviewed 18 Jun 2012

We had an amazing holiday. It was our 1ST time in Turkey and Kalkan was recommended by family. It was exactly what we dreamt it would be. From the time when we booked our holiday to the day before we flew, the Villas owner was fantastic and on the other end of an email within hours answering any questions. On arriving in Kalkan we were met by the villa's management Gareth, who was fantastic and a huge bonus to have someone English speaking to show us around our villa. The villa itself was beautiful and exactly what we imagined from the photos. It was beautifully clean inside and out, and very comfortable. The air conditioning was a blessing towards the end of our holiday, as the temperature reached 45 Degrees! The pool area was beautifully kept and looked after twice a day. Being quite a way up the hill, we walked into the town every evening which took about 20mins and got taxi's back, as the walk was all uphill and the evenings were warm. Villa Palm is by far the best villa we have stayed in! Kalkan itself is beautiful. Winding streets and small shops. Loads of restaurant to choose from, we didn't have one bad meal. You can eat cheaply and more extravagantly, it caters for every budget. A Very quaint place and We ended up looking forward to the call for prayer which just added to the ambiance. We will defintately return to Kalkan and Villa Palm.

Thank you so much for your kind comments. As first time visitors to Turkey, I'm really pleased Kalkan was all you thought it would be and that the villa was to your satisfaction. I look forward to welcoming you back to Villa Palm soon.

Transfers arranged by owner/property manager with Brave Tours: private car, excellent driver, wet wipe to freshen up, bottle of water and a bottle of wine once we arrived. Transfer took between one and a half to two hours. Villa Palm: Just like the pictures, perfect, very clean on arrival and cleaned every 3-4 days with towel and bedding change. Welcome pack: included a bottle of wine, fresh loaf of bread, butter, pot of jam, cheese, large carton of milk and eggs. Tea bags, coffee and sugar also provided for your use until you go shopping. Cool water dispenser: almost full provided enough fresh and safe mineral water for almost the first week. Refill only a few pounds. Toilet rolls and hand soap dispenser provided for your arrival. Location: Almost at the top of the resort. Easy 15 -20 minute walk down to the centre of the resort and taxi's back everywhere and very reasonable. Veiws could not be better. The mountains behind and Kalkan bay in front. Resort: Very friendly people without any harrassment even in the Thursday market just down the road from Villa Palm. Restaurants plentiful and prices for every budget. Last but not least: Donna, the owner made the booking process from start to finish so easy and what a lovely lady she is, could not do enough for you. Gareth, property manager, not needed for any problems because there were none but on hand for a wealth of local information. All in all the villa, cleaning service, location, resort and all the helpful touches resulted in one of the most enjoyable holidays we have ever experienced.

Thank you so much for your detailed feedback, it is very much appreciated. We are delighted you had a great holiday and were happy with everything offered. I will pass on you kind comments to Gareth and the team. It would be our pleasure to welcome you back to Villa Palm in the future.

“Wonderfully relaxing, breathtaking views, beautiful pool area and terraces”

Reviewed 8 Jun 2012

This has to be one of our best holidays as a family, ever ! From the moment I booked Villa Palm, Donna (the owner) provided me with informative emails, answering all my questions and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. On arrival, we were not disappointed. The Villa is extremely well presented with 3 terraces providing the most incredible views of the mountains and sea. The welcome pack was a lovely touch especially after a long journey. So many villas are barely furnished but at Villa Palm, it was like home from home with everything we could possibly need to make our holiday so enjoyable. We hired a car which is a must as the road to the villa is very steep (as are a lot of roads in Kalkan). The Villa is very well maintained with the pool and garden being serviced twice a day. Our 2 boys (age 10 & 7) spent hours and hours of fun in the pool and it was so lovely to sit on comfy sun loungers and soak in the view ! Kalkan is a lovely place especially by the harbour with all the little cobbled streets, shops and many many restaurants all serving delicious food. We will definitely be returning ! The Page Family

Thank you very much for your kind comments. We're really pleased you had a great holiday in Villa Palm and that everything was to your satisfaction. Look forward to welcoming you back sometime!

“Location, Location, Location”

Reviewed 7 Nov 2011

Having arrived at this villa at night, we woke the next day to the most spectacular panoramic views of Kalkan, which could not have been better. The facilities within the villa were first class, with so much attention to detail provided - even the vast selection of music which catered for all tastes - fantastic. Beautifully decorated, furnished and very comfortable. The directions to the villa provided by the owner were very good - even when travelling at night. The location was brilliant, with amenities in easy reach, although a car came in useful when sightseeing. A superb selection of restaurants could be found in the harbour and up in the mountain - with some providing a free taxi service. This was certainly a holiday to remember for all the right reasons and one to highly recommend.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, it is very much appreciated. Really pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Villa Palm and that it is a holiday you will remember for all the right reasons! Hope to hear from you in the future. Kind regards Donna
