Location description from owner

The Turkish Mediterranean Coast region

Kalkan is part of ancient Lycia. There are many remains of Ancient Lycia scattered around this part of Turkey. Tlos, Pinara, Zanthos, Sdyma and Letoon are but a few of the Lycean sites. The weather is sunny and mild from mid April to the end of October, with the hottest season being July and August.

There are many beaches within reach of Kalkan. Nearby Patara beach ranks as one of the finest beaches in the Mediterranean. Another fine beach, about 6k towards Kas is Kaputas beach, across from Kaputas Gorge.
There are many sights of natural beauty. Saklikent Gorge is spectacular, as is the famous Olu Deniz beach. You can take an all day boat tour from Kas or from Ucagiz, going around the bays and islands to see Kekova and Semena and the sunken Lycian remains just under the water.

Kalkan

The charming village of Kalkan has steep narrow lanes climbing down the harbour.
On the way down to the harbour, you will pass a variety of shops and restaurants. With so many restaurants to choose from, you can’t go far wrong. One of our favourites is Belgin’s Kitchen—near the small amphitheatre in the middle of town.

There are also all day boat tours from Kalkan which take you to the nearby Snake island and Mouse island for a whole day of swimming and relaxing.

“Excellent and a perfect location”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2016

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Villa Bellevue and it exceeded all our expectations - there was so much room! I loved sitting at the balcony on an evening (with a beer) it was so quiet and private and the views during the day were wonderful. We did have a visitor one night, a small lizard running around the stairwell walIs! I loved Kalkan, the restaurants were great and most offered something different. Our particular favourite was Kosk - definitely recommend you visit (next to small amphitheatre). The shops are individual - I particularly liked the clothing and the glass - wonderful hand blown glass shop near the harbour. The beaches are great, Kaputas our favourite, Patara very historic with a lovely sandy beach, the waves are quite strong and tend to throw you out of the sea! Saklikent Gorge is worth a visit as well as a boat trip around Kekova with a stop at Simena for home made ice cream and turtle spotting - we saw 7! It was a perfect location and the villa was such a wonderful place to come back to. I loved it - home from home. Thank you Lou and Tony.

I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Villa Bellevue. Please do come back to stay another time. Thanks for the recommendation for Kosk restaurant. That's one I haven't tried yet! Lou Tribus

“A rare spot in Kalkan”

Reviewed 14 Jun 2015

This house offers a lot of space, especially in the living room, kitchen and balcony area. The balcony has a very clever layout, with a shadow and a sun area - very useful in any season! And of course, a nice view over the sea and Kalkan. Some people might enjoy the security in this resort, others the tranquility, or the facilities such as swimming pools, spa, market, restaurant etc. What I personally most appreciated were the secluded areas at the sea front. Rare are the apartments in Kalkan offering this advantage. The secluded areas are laid out on several levels, so you really get some privacy. They are equipped with beach beds and umbrellas, and you can order drinks to the waiter. We definitely will book this house again for future holidays in the sun!

“Lovely apartment in an interesting location.”

We had a lovely relaxing week in this well appointed apartment within easy walking distance of Kalkan. We hired a car for a few days from a local firm that was easy and helpful. We were able to visit Fethiye, Xanthos and Kas where we had a boat trip which was wonderful. The flight we were on from England was diverted to Bodrum due to a thunderstorm and after a coach trip back to Dalaman the taxi driver was waiting for us to take us on to Kalkan. The view from the apartment was beautiful.

“A great week. Lovely accomodation, lovely situation.”

The property is spacious, clean, airy and comfortable and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It has fantastic views across Kalkan bay. Only a short walk into the town centre which has everything we needed - supermarkets, cafés, restaurants, bars, banks, markets, Turkish baths clothe and tourist shops. Transfers were excellent and hiring a car was easy and pleasant. Lots to do - relaxing by the pools, swimming in the sea or pools, easy access to sandy beaches ,exploring archaeology sites, walking in the surround country, trips on boats

“Wonderful”

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our week at Villla Belvue in Kalkan. The setting is idyllic, the facilities of the resort are excellent, and the villa is beautifully appointed. . We loved the village which retains its original charm whilst offering all the modern facilities and services any visitor could wish for. All the owner's recommendations and information for guests were really helpful and enabled us to get the maximum benefit from our stay.

“Lovely villa with great sea views towards Kalkan”

Reviewed 6 Oct 2014

This was our first visit to Kalkan and we were really pleased with our villa. We chose one in Club Patara/Patara Prince because we had our adult son with us who we thought would enjoy the pools, watersports and tennis. The villa was more spacious than expected. It can sleep 6 and we were only 3 so only used 2 bedrooms, both lovely. The 3rd bedroom was quite small if 2 shared though ok for children. Wonderful large balcony with both sun and shaded areas well equipped with sunloungers and eating areas overlooking the sea. Close to the entrance of Club Patara but very quiet. About 300 steps down to the sea so not good for disabled or very small children although a free shuttle bus runs every 20 minutes or so. We could walk into Kalkan in about 15-20 minutes and didn't need a car. The owner's agent organised an airport transfer by car for us (£110 return). We ate out in different restaurants every night in Kalkan which were not expensive and sometimes got a taxi back (£3 or £4). Went on a couple of day trips with Define tours which were excellent.

“Beautiful view and a splendid and relaxing place to be.”

Famiily holiday with teenagers and their boyfriends. Lovely location within ease of all Kalkan's roof terrace restaurants. Would recommend this villa for a relaxing holiday with all that you neddd and beautiful views. This was our second visit to Villa Bellevue and we will indeed return, trusted owners and very good value for money compared to our March destination of Barbados.

“Fantastic villa with great sea views”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2014

Stayed in this villa with family last year and enjoyed it so much came back this year.Spacious and comfortable with great views over sea and Kalkan.Set in lovely gardens with three pools to choose from or you can sit on one of the sea platforms and dive into the sea.Lots of steps ,but there is an excellent shuttle that takes you up and down so no need to walk if you don't want. There is also a boat shuttle that takes you over to Kalkan which is delightful, full of interesting shops and places to eat,as is Kas which is about 20 min drive away.Lots of places to visit and plenty of water sport to keep busy.

“Great villa and town”

Reviewed 25 Jul 2014

Well appointed villa with great views across the bay in a good complex. I didn't try the restaurants in the complex because there are lots of good ones in the town, 10 minutes walk away. The large balcony is great for meals if you cook in the villa, or just for sunbathing. Nice swimming pools, with one of them being adult only. No beach but you can swim in the sea from platforms - there is a small beach in the town. I hired a car and the wonderful Patara beach is just 15 minutes drive away. There are many other worthwhile places to visit by car. Not suitable if you're averse to steps or hills.

“Another Fabulous Fortnight”

Reviewed 24 Jul 2014

This was our third visit to Villa Bellevue and hopefully won't be the last. We had a fabulous holiday, the villa is just perfect for us as we like the quiet life around the adult pool during the day and getting a taxi into Kalkan each evening for a lovely meal and drinks! If we were lucky enough to have our own place in Kalkan, Villa Bellevue would be our dream! It is so well equipped, everything we need is there! We did the boat trip from the hotel twice this year. It was good value for money and really enjoyable. Would love to return. Thank you Lou for letting us stay again in your beautiful villa.
