Location description from owner

The Turkish Mediterranean Coast region

THE LYCIAN COASTLINE is an area of extraordinary beauty. There is nothing quite like this piece of coastline as the coastal road twists and turns and the hidden treasure of Kalkan appears. The broad, open Mediterranean in the bay below is such a beautiful azure blue, it has a truly mesmerizing effect as nature unfolds in front of you. The area offers the visitor plenty of activities, both on and off the water, and a variety of places of interest to visit.

Kalkan

Kalkan is one of Turkey's best kept secrets, nestling at the foot of the Taurus mountains with one of the prettiest bays on the Meditteranean coast. Once a tiny fishing village it is now a small, sophisticated resort which appeals to the dicerning visitor. Its narrow cobbled streets wind down to the harbour and are lined with numerous interesting shops selling a variety of goods such as carpets, jewellery and local crafts. There are a multitude of excellent roof top and water side restaurants serving all manner of culinary delights including many local dishes. After your meal you can go for a stroll and soak up the wonderful atmosphere of Kalkan at night....perhaps do a little shopping and finish with a night cap at one of Kalkan's small bars. If you are feeling energetic there are lots of local sporting activities such as scuba diving, trekking and jet ski-ing etc. Perhaps take a trip to one of the many magnificent historical sites such as Xanthos,Tlos or Myra & Kekova....or maybe just relax by your own private pool. There is something for everyone in Kalkan !

“The perfect Villa for us without doubt - home from home - with the added addition of a fab pool!”

Reviewed 8 Oct 2015

We have never been the type of people that return to the same destination. That is until we stayed here! We have now introduced family - and they in turn their own friends and family. Its possibly the hardest review to write as we don't want our 'secret' shared too much. Selfishly we want to be able to return again and again and not have difficulty booking because our family and now their friends are booking it. Just saying! Teresa makes the booking process so easy and is a very honest owner - if she says it will be done - it gets done. Same with her loyal team of staff. Hakan, his sister, the two sisters who clean the villa - they all make the villa what is is - just fab. We will be returning without doubt.

“Wonderful villa.”

Reviewed 17 Sep 2015

This villa has everything you could wish for, plus daily maid and pool service. The pool is gorgeous, modern and spotlessly clean, with more than enough loungers and two seating areas with chairs and tables for outdoor drinks/dining. The first floor balcony also has a seating area for early morning coffees etc, whilst the roof terrace has a couple more loungers (for those who want to get closest to the sun) and a lovely shaded seating area with fabulous views over Kalkan Bay...this is especially wonderful when the sun is going down for whatever tipple you prefer. Supermarkets are nearby and all drinks available to purchase and stock the large fridge freezer. There are three handy butchers and a fish market for those wishing to self cater, but with a choice of over 200 restaurants we chose not to, apart from breakfast and a couple of lunches. We ate in different restaurants each day, standards varying between very good and fantastic. It is about a 15 minute walk, downhill, to the old town and harbour, and a £3 taxi back after a night out. If you're going to Kalkan ,are considering a villa and Villa Bahce is available...don't hesitate. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer.

Fantastic villa in great location . Beautiful views over kalkan . Owner very helpful and got great management team looking after villa . The villa is a 15 min walk into kalkan but most nights we got the local taxi which was so cheap . The pool was lovely and was in the sun all day . I don't think you could ask for a better holiday . The villa has everything you need and more .

“Perfect family holiday”

Reviewed 27 Jul 2015

What can I say, this was our first villa experience and it was perfect from start to finish. I was apprehensive as you hear horror stories but Teresa was so helpful and made the booking straight forward and even arranged the airport transfers. The villa sits fairly high up from the harbour but the views are stunning at all times of the day and night. From the little terrace by the pool, to the balcony and the roof terrace, it was a pleasure to look out on the bay while sipping a long cold drink. The pool was great and kept clean and tidy by the daily visit from the pool man, my grandsons had a ball and were in the pool most of the day. The bonus of a villa being that if one child gets fed up,the whole family has to pack up and go back to the hotel room.......not here, kids happy inside with wifi and adults chilling by the pool. The villa is so well equipped, every utensil you could ask for in the kitchen, the washing machine was a blessing. We all agreed the beds were so comfortable and the nets ensured we were bite free even tho there was little evidence of the dreaded mozzies. The cleaning ladies came in daily with a twice weekly 'big clean' , they were very pleasant. Al fresco eating and several BBQ 's were a joy. Kalkan itself is a joy, lovely restaurants and lots of food shops with amazing fruit and veg. Thank you Teresa for your help and understanding, we hope to be back next year.

“A Perfect Week's Holiday”

Reviewed 9 Jul 2015

Villa Bahce is a lovely property with all the facilities and equipment you could possibly need for a holiday, and the villa definitely has that home-from-home feel. The outside areas, the pool and the roof terrace are wonderful and you are rewarded with fantastic views across the bay. The location is ideal, cooling breezes in the height of summer yet not too far from the centre of the village, a steady stroll down and a clamber back, or take one of the very reasonable taxis. I've been to Kalkan several times and love the village, the people are so friendly and accommodating and we had a fabulous day out on a boat trip on Yildiz 2, we even saw sea turtles swimming. The booking process was simple, quick and easy, Teresa was extremely helpful and very prompt to reply to any emails. I would definitely recommend Villa Bahce.

“A perfect break away from it all!”

Reviewed 22 Sep 2014

We had an amazing time again in Kalkan for our second visit to Villa Bahce. Our friends and daughter were very impressed and I am sure that you will be hearing from one of us in the future for another holiday as the Villa is so well equipped. Although things have changed since our last villa with a new villa in front of the pool which in itself is beautiful, it hasn't spoilt things and the villa still gives a lot of privacy and the garden has now matured nicely. We used the roof top terrace much more this year as the views are absolutely amazing of the bay. The transfer company were excellent as usual and were relieved that they waited for us although we were delayed coming in to Turkey. All the staff; cleaners, Hakan and pool man were really helpful and attentive. Kalkan continues to be a brilliant place to holiday. Highlights of the holiday were 2 boat trips out on Zeus with Ali, one during the day and one in the evening (You can find him in the harbour!) There is nothing quite like seeing a turtle swimming in the wild or snorkelling by torchlight by night! Thank you Teresa for another perfect stay!

“What a wonderful villa to stay in, Home from home!”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2013

We stayed in Villa Bahce at the end of July & found the villa to be a wonderful place for a relaxing family holiday. The owners have made this villa a home from home with every comfort you could need. It was so hot in Kalkan (nearly 40 degrees most days) so having air conditioning & the wonderful pool were essential. The villa is quite high up the hillside but this allows for a breeze which is very welcome during the hottest part of the day. The villa was furnished to a very high standard & with the added bonus of the roof top terrace & patio seating areas, it made for a wonderful place to just relax & enjoy the view. In the evening we sat with a glass of wine, looking out at the view over the bay, which was all lit up. Life doesn't get much better than that! The maids come every day, as did the poolman/gardener & they were very helpful & friendly. There is a very steep walk down into the town & I would recommend ladies do not try wearing high heels but there is always a taxi available in town to take you back up the hill home & they are very reasonable. Kalkan is a wonderful town with a wide variety of restaurants & shops. The food was wonderful & the people so friendly. We will definately return sometime in the future,.

“Amazing Villa with Wonderful Views!”

Reviewed 11 Jun 2013

We had lovely time in Kalkan (me, my husband and 17 month old) and the villa was amazing! The views are stunning and recent work that had been undertaken (extension of the patio area by the pool and the new kitchen) was not lost on us. Teresa made booking the villa so easy and once in Kalkan, Hakan was lovely and so were the maids and gardener – I cannot fault anything about the villa – Kalkan itself is beautiful too, everyone over there made such a fuss of our son and made our week there easier. All of that said we were so glad we hired a car as those hills were a killer, especially with a pram, however we did venture out walking during the day but used the car in the evening when we went out for our meal, we then headed back to put our son to bed and have a few drinks on the new veranda, admiring the wonderful views. All of that said there are plenty of taxis around if you dont hire a car. There is plenty of shops to browse in around the village and bartering is a must! The market on a Thursday is also definately worth a visit as you can pick up some bargains. All in all a fantastic place to stay which I would recommend to anyone who is able to manage hills. A top tip for all the ladies out there - take flat shoes! ;)

“Beautiful villa in stunning location”

Reviewed 6 Aug 2012

Villa Bahce has everything you need for a memorable, hassle-free holiday. The views from the villa are simply stunning and the pool, terrace areas and roof-top terrace are top notch. Owner, Teresa was so helpful and offered fantastic customer services and great advice before we'd even left the UK, which was greatly appreciated as this was our first family trip to Turkey. The villa is equipped to a high standard and little things - like hairdryers, adaptor plugs, mosquito machines and the use of a mobile phone - meant all we had to do was chill out and enjoy a very relaxing holiday. Reliable wi-fi also meant our 2 teenage daughters were happy too! The roads surrounding the villa are pretty steep but we just factored in the cost of a short, return taxi trip when eating out at night. Kalkan itself is a beautiful resort and we would definitely return. Villa Bahce more than met our expectations and I miss those stunning views already! Highly recommended.

“Excellent find”

Reviewed 1 Oct 2011

First time in Turkey and we didn't know what to expect. We couldn't have been more pleased! Both the country and the people are lovely and KalKan is one of the nicest places we've been too - that is said after many years of visiting Greece which we also love. As for Villa Bahce, the location is stunning. High on the hillside with fantastic views of the village and bays below. The villa has everything - position, pool, roof terrace (many nights sat out there), spacious bedrooms, comfortable beds, good facilities, cleanliness and regular friendly maid service. It is naturally hilly round and about but the taxi service is excellent - quick and cheap. The booking was straightforward and the owner couldn't have done more for us, helping with car hire, supplying local information and excellent directions. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Villa Bahce
