Area information
Kalk Bay is a small, vibrant fisherman's village with working harbour, surrounded by many coffee shops, restaurants, bohemian style shops, boutiques, art and antique stores. It provides the perfect environment to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Cape. There are some excellent restaurants in Kalk Bay, with spectacular views over the sea and crashing waves when the swell is high. There are also a number of attractions a short drive away:
*10 minute drive to Boulder's Penguins
*15 minute drive for Horse riding on the Noordhoek beaches
*20 minute drive to Cape Point Nature Reserve
*35 minute drive to the Table Mountain Cable Car
*35 minute drive to The V&A Waterfront
*20 minute drive to Kirstenbosch Gardens
*5 minute drive to Muizenberg Beach
*5 minute walk to Kalk Bay Harbour and beach
*10 to 15 minute drive to Westlake, Clovelly and Steenberg Golf Estates.

It's hard to believe that retro Kalk Bay is actually part of Cape Town. The pace differs – interesting people stroll along the wharf and browse the quirky shops, relaxed citizens sip on superb Cape Wines and cold beers while surfers ride the breakers and in season Whales grace the shoreline.
Kalk Bay has a wonderful holiday atmosphere where fishermen ply the waters constantly whatever the time of day or season. Seagulls fly around happily, bright yellow water taxi's travel between Kalk Bay and Simon's Town, and the seals play in the harbour waiting for the fishermen to throw them a leftover fish. Kalk Bay is one of Cape Town's trendiest seaside villages and reflects a cosmopolitan heritage.
There is a bohemian arty culture, a growing nightlife, with great theatre and the art, architecture and cuisine are much sought after. The beautiful Indian Ocean beaches are famous for swimming, as the temperatures are a few degrees warmer than the Atlantic Ocean on the other side.
