The Turkish Aegean Coast region

Turgutreis is the second largest town on the Bodrum peninsula. It is named after Admiral Turgut Reis who was born in the village of Karabag which overlooks Turgutreis on the hillside above the town and where there is a statue to the Admiral in the village square.
With its endless beaches, its own unique street of bars, and its Marina, as well as an enormous open air market, giant supermarkets, a covered bazaar where you can find anything and everything, and a sizeable and dynamic population, it has recently become a favourite with those for whom 'vacation' is synonymous with Bodrum.

All along the shore, from one end to the other, no matter where you stand, no matter where you look from, you will feel that you are in a place where the sunset is always beautiful. Blood-red geraniums at the foot of the olive trees, beneath your feet the vast and endless sea, and overhead the Aegean's azure sky, this is Turgutreis.

There are four large supermarkets and numerous local shops. There is also a new marina opened in 2005 where outlets for Armani, Helly Hanson, Gap etc are found as well as more up market eaterie.

Turgutreis is a quieter option to the more touristy resorts close by such as Bodrum and Gumbet. Turgutreis has a long sandy beach, and as it is on the tip of the Bodrum peninsula, the water quality is very good due to the currents passing through between the headland and adjacent islands. The Greek islands of Kos, Pserimos and Kalymnos are close by, and from June to October the ferry leaves Turgutreis for day visits to Kos.

THINGS TO DO...

There are many things to do on the Bodrum peninsula apart from enjoing the sunshine, it is one of the most beautiful peninsulas in Turkey. From cosmopolitan Bodrum Town to the south, to Gulluk in the north-east, every corner of the peninsula offers something different. Whether its golf, water sports, ancient history, beach life or the natural world you are after, the Bodrum peninsula has it all.
From splashing around in aqua park at Ortakent, visiting the bustling shops and markets in Bodrum Town and Turgutreis, day trips to Yalikavak with it stunning sunsets and Gumusluk with its famous fish restaurants, Scuba Diving and Wind Surfing in Bitez or Ortakent and much much more. You'll need to come back again.....

With sea temperatures ranging from 14 to 25 degrees between summer and winter, Bodrum is a great location for diving holidays at any time of the year. With numerous centres offering PADI, CMAS and Baracuda courses for all levels

The Greek islands are literally a stones through away if you fancy a change of country for the day. After only 20 minutes on the hydrofoil you will arrive in Kos that is just opposite of Bodrum. Please ask us for more details on trips and other excursions, car hire etc.

Horse-riding and river-rafting can be done just a little distance from Bodrum. For those who like to be really adventurous, there are Jet skis or you might even fancy parasailing. Jeep-Safaris are also offered by many companies now.

DEDMAN AQUAPARK
For the more energetic amongst you, a funpacked day can be spent here riding the exhilerating waterslides. Located just outside Bodrum, there are many pickup points arranged via a shuttle bus or plentiful car parkng should you wish to drive.

TURKISH GULET CRUISES
Why not take advantage of Bodrum's alluring coast line by going on a daily gulet boat trip, stopping off at secluded coves for a spot of sunbathing, swimming and snorkelling. Alternatively, in the area's maritime tradition, we can organise a private yacht charter from one of the many locally-based agencies.
Also Within Reach:
- Pamukkale: Literally translated as "cotton castle", the amazing calcium rock formations should be seen to be believed. While in the area, it is worth visiting the nearby ancient city of Aphrodisias.
- Ephesus: This amazing ancient city can be reached in about 2 and a half hours with the Temple of Artemis known as one of the 7 wonders of the Ancient World and the House of the Virgin Mary where she was known to have spent her last days.

Nightlife Bodrum and Gumbet

Bodrum's nightlife is the most lively along the length of the Aegean. Indeed, Bodrum has more bars per area than any other place in Turkey. By night, head to the mile long Cumhuriyet Street, also known as 'Bar Street' for as much all-night partying as you can take. Live music, local and international DJs and show dancers are all on offer. Visit one of the worlds few open air nightclubs like the famous Halikarnas or dance the night away at sea on the Club Catamaran.
Gumbet is the Party resort of the Bodrum peninsula and is a very popular tourist resort for the younger generation. Gumbet suits all tastes and has a variety of bars and discos to choose from. Try the typical style Turkish bar and listen to the live music or why not try your own bar crawl and head towards the clubs in the main street called bar street where all types of music from pop, rock, RnB and dance is played.
