You have a choice of airports at La Rochelle, Bordeaux, Bergerac or a little further at Poitiers and Limoges. There is a train station with timetables to most of these places. Jonzac comes under the title of green town, and therefore offers an array of walks, starting with the town centre and its castle, the undercover market, the Roman style church, medieval streets, ending with many paths around the river Seugne. It has a leisure park, an energy centre to visit, and Les Antilles aqua park.
* The castle: visits on tuesdays from March to November and every day at 16:00 hrs in July and August.
*Market: open on Tuesday/Friday/Saturday. Fresh green market on Sunday mornings, late shop opening on Wednesdays in summer.

If it takes your fancy, go and visit Cognac which will lead you through its history with its museum and great reknown Cognac Houses such as Le Courvoisier, Hennessy etc... You can also relax on a boat trip along the Charente or have a picnic on its banks.

Of course, a trip to discover Bordeaux and its architecture and wine, is a must. Take the castles road where you'll find many places to taste the wine you can then buy.Talmont and the estuary is well worth seeing, without forgetting a day at La Rochelle and Royan with the Palmyre zoo.

The high and lowSaintonge region offers a multitudes of places to visit during your stay, too many to mention them all.

You'll always be glad to get back to Les Rosiers to enjoy the rest of the day in a peaceful environment.

“what a marvelous little find...we have booked again for this coming august.”

Reviewed 20 Jul 2015

it was a rural & idyllic sanctuary. we were greeted with the warmest of welcomes from michele & denis who made us feel completely at home instantly, our gite was spotlessly clean & tidy & comfortable, with all the mod~cons that we needed. the shops in local Jonzac had everything that we wanted & was so wonderfully beautiful. every direction we travelled in was spectacular with sunflowers & vineyards (perfect for photography). we cant wait until this august when we return to this little gem to explore further a field.
