Location description from owner

The Antigua and Barbuda region

If you’ve never visited Antigua there are delights galore in store for you. The warmth of the people of Antigua equals the warmth of the sun that shines most of the time. When it does rain it’s called ‘liquid sunshine’. Antigua enjoys near perfect year round subtropical weather and is one of the driest islands in the Caribbean. Average annual temperature is 79F (26C) – Jan and Feb being 77F(25C) and August 82F (27C). The hurricane season lasts from June to November with September the busiest time for storms. However, statistically only four hurricanes hit the islands every 100 years.

The history of the island is alive and evident everywhere and you will find much to occupy your time exploring historic sites and attractions – unless you are intent on lying on the beach every day soaking up the sun. These are the finest beaches in the Caribbean of course and offer world class diving and sailing with a wealth of other water sports.

The island measures 15 miles east to west and 11 miles north to south. It covers 108 square miles and is the largest of the Leeward Islands. Nature lovers will delight in luxuriant flora abundant everywhere.

Jolly Harbour

Its just a ten minute stroll to Jolly Beach and the local harbour where there is a large supermarket which caters for most needs. Jolly Harbour also offers a variety of restaurants & bars, a casino, shopping & excursions, an 18 hole golf course, water sports, boat hire, tennis, squash & gym.

Still conveniently local you will find world class dining, and a choice of lively beach restaurants.

International Cricket Week (cricket is Antigua’s national sport and there is fierce devotion to this sport) Featuring the WI against visiting teams. Antigua has produced world class cricketers the likes of Viv Richards, Richie Richardson, Curtley Ambrose and Andy Roberts.

Tennis Week – in May and attracts top name seeds from around the world

Yacht Regatta – attracts yachts from around the world and this is held the week before the Antigua Sailing Week.

Sailing Week takes place at the end of April and attracts entries from around the world for racing – non stop festivities at this time.

Carnival – takes place the first Monday and Tuesday in August and is a vibrant summer festivity.

“Wonderful holiday”

Reviewed 4 Oct 2013

Having never done a direct rental before we were slightly nervous however the service we received from our original enquiry right through to our departure was second to none. We were met from the airport and taken directly to the villa where we were greeted by Yasmin, who looks after the property, she explained where everything was and how it worked and left us with a mobile phone together with her contact details should we have any problems. The villa itself was perfect for our needs - very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The wi-fi worked well which was a huge plus for the kids. The pool was lovely and the outside area perfect for dining al-fresco and chilling while the kids were in the pool. The location of the villa is great - a short distance to the nearest beach and supermarket, with a pizza place and “fish and chip bus” directly opposite - great for a take-away! We hired the owner's car which gave us the freedom to explore the wonderful 'Island'. We had a wonderful stay and would most certainly return to both Antigua and Ffryes Villa.

“INCREDIBLE VILLA, OUTSTANDING HOLIDAY”

Reviewed 3 Jun 2013

Where to start!?! our trip to antigua was an incredible experience never to be forgotten and so much of that was down to where we stayed, Ffryes Villa. the villa itself is beautiful with 3 large double rooms all en-suite, a huge open plan kitchen/dining/living room, a great pool area, barbecue and outdoor dining area as well as an outdoor lounge area - all of which are beautifully finished. the plethora of fans and air conditioning units in all the rooms meant that we were always comfortable whatever the temperatures outside. Moreover, the villa is a 2 minute walk from one of the most beautiful beaches the Island has to offer, Ffryes Beach (by The Nest) which is always lined with turquoise ocean and sparsely inhabited if not almost always deserted. Importantly, the villa rental came complete with a 4x4 vehicle which allowed us to explore many more of the 365 beaches the island has to offer and go off on mini adventures whenever we pleased. The estate the villa sits on is incredibly quiet and secluded meaning we had all the privacy we could wish for. All in all the holiday was one we will never forget and was made so incredible by the choice of villa. its incredible presentation and superb location set us up for the trip of a lifetime. We highly recommend it and plan on renting it again as soon as we can

“Wonderful holiday in a beautiful country”

Reviewed 19 Jan 2013

We were a family of 6 adults who stayed at Ffryes villa from the 22nd of december 2012 until 4th January 2013 we all had an excellant holiday. Ffryes villa is very charming, decorated with taste, clean and very spacious with a new internet router that works to perfection and all the appliances you need to have a wonderful holiday in beautiful Antigua. The veranda for al-fresco dining surounded by tropical plants with colourful birds visiting the garden is blissful for breakfast, sunbathing or a late cocktail in the evening and the swimming pool allows an early morning or late night swim. Dan the caretaker and Yasmine the house manager certainly make sure your very well looked after throughout your stay. I had been in Antigua and other caribbean islands before but had always stayed in hotels, renting the villa gave us more freedom . We found many delicious charming restaurants , my favourite is Hemingsway in St. Johns, the lobster, crab cakes and cocunut shrimps west indies currys and creole sauces are mouth wateringly delicous, however if you like a steak cooked to perfection try Peters at Jolly Harbour , or an excellant Italien is Abracadabra at the English Harbour. We took a day boat trip on excellance from st. Johns to the sister island of Barbuda. The islands is stunninly beautiful with such soft white sand , the sea a soft pale transparent turquoise and the crew of the boat trip were excellant, caring and tendering to all of our needs. The beaches in Antigua, well there is so much choice each and every one as beautiful as the next- Finally a big thankyou to he Marianne the owner of Ffryes villa , the Christmas tree and the christmas greetings message was very kind and thoughtful gesture. Finally Antigua is a strange mixture of wealth and poverty, beautiful landscapes gorgeous sunsets, stunning beaches, some very good restaurants and lovely, happy, Antiguan Caribbean people.

“Great Villa !”

Reviewed 20 Aug 2012

We stayed at Ffryes for two weeks without a problem, the management team were there to meet us when we arrived and the villa was clean and tidy inside and out. The villa has everything you need for a relaxed stay. We spent most of our days at the many beaches, swimming, snorkelling and soaking up the sun. Most beaches have a beach bar and friendly locals so lunch and a cold drink is never far away. There are plenty of good restaurants in Jolly Harbour for evenings out or you can just stay in and chill out on the veranda. We came home with some great memories and hopefully it won’t be too long before we are back again.
