Description

Our Beautiful Cottage is a lovingly renovated traditional “finca” set in an untouched valley on the edge of Jesus Pobre. Our Finca is old and beamed and is between 500 to 700 years old and most probably of Arabic Origin. The village lies equidistant (one hour's easy drive) between Alicante and Valencia. The valley is a nature reserve and the house boasts tremendous views down to the sea. Jesus Pobre is situated slightly inland from the coast, between the charming resort town of Javea, and the more metropolitan Denia. From Denia it is only a two hour ferry ride to Ibiza. We are perfectly situated for enjoying the scenic beaches of the “Costa Blanca”, but the house also provides a rural retreat. It is in an Almond Grove and surrounded by the scent of Pines and Wild Fennel. It is a glorious and unusual and romantic spot. It is a place of peace and tranquility but with a vibrant Village on the doorstep. The Valley is a free and Rural Paradise for DOGS and dog

The Valley is a free and Rural Paradise for DOGS and dog walkers and they are very welcome. 2 or more Dogs are acceptable in our Cottage. Our family have owned the Finca for nearly 50 years and it is a much loved family home.

Jesus Pobre is a small, bustling community that lies underneath the enigmatic elephant shaped “Montgo” mountain. The village has two popular bars, both of which serve good food on lovely terraces, plus two other restaurants in the village which are excellent. There are two village shops, a pharmacy and an excellent bakers. More amenities can be found in nearby Gata de Gorgos. Gata is famous for it's local pottery and basketware and the Restaurants are excellent and have wine from their own local vineyards. A Famous dish of the Region is "chicken in almonds" as the area is famous for it's Almond Groves. Our House is surrounded by Almond Trees and in The Spring the Valley is awash with Almond Blossom and is a sight to behold!.

The cottage sleeps six +1 on a camp bed, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms over two levels (two double beds, one with two singles). The communal spaces are large and unfussy, with a big dining kitchen that includes a breakfast bar. There is also an open plan living area with Satellite TV, DVD, sound system, library, games etc. The traditional fireplace is particularly cosy during the winter months. The washing machine facilities are situated outside on the back terrace. We have wifi at The Finca.

“Casa Los Tres Molinos” (“House of the three windmills”) nestles in the side of a terraced hill under three old windmills. There is a swimming pool above the house. Surrounded by patio and trees, this spot offers a glorious view over the valley and to the Montgo beyond. The house is equally suited to family beach/pool holidays as it is to artists, writers, walkers and Dog Walkers and bird watchers. Since our family first brought the property in 1967 many artists have been inspired by the house and created work on the sheltered patio. It is a restful abode and guests say how much they enjoy the calm and silence and peace of the house and valley. Every Year 7 weeks after Easter Jesus Pobre put on a spectacular Fiesta in the Village with a packed programme of Events. This is a wonderful week to go and is a Community Event. You can find local Fiestas all over the Costa Blanca and they are brilliant and well worth seeing. They are colourful and original. Over Fiesta Week Jesus Pobre is beautifully decorated and the children help decorate the streets with their art work.

During a two week rental the house will be cleaned and laundered before and after your stay. (A welcome pack of milk, bread, tea etc can also be provided for a small charge.) Information about doctors, beaches, day trips, bird watching, hiking, cycling and horse trekking routes, indigenous flora, good restaurants, supermarkets etc can be found at the house. We will also send a comprehensive visitor's book to you by email before your stay. Guests are looked after and supported by our delightful Housekeeper and her husband who live very close by. They have lived in the Village for Years and can give Guests a lot of useful information about the area.

The House is down a track into the Valley of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is in a unique location with views to the Mediterranean from the back patio and The Montgo from the front of the house. There are wonderful walks from the House and we encourage Guests to bring their Dogs here. They are free of charge and very welcome. Guests can bring two or more Pets. The front Patio is completely secure and ideal for Dogs. It is a safe space. The Finca is very much a Village house surrounded by permanent residents and guests feel very much part of the local community and part of a closeknit village.

“Perfect stay”

Reviewed 9 Sep 2016

Spent two weeks with our son and daughter of 9 and 11 years. Greatly enjoyed pretty beautiful tranquil setting. The house is spacious and well equipped . Children have greatly enjoyed the pool. The beach is by car a short distance away in Javea and gorgeous with beautiful boulevard . Contact with the owner was very nice and almost always responded immediately to any questions we had ahead. worth repeating! Awesome !!
