Location description from owner

The Valencian Country region

Alicante is a costal province in Eastern Spain, in the southern part of the Community of Valencia.

Xàbia (Spanish: Jávea) is a beautiful coastal town, half way between the cities of Valencia and Alicante and
known as the 'White Coast' and 'Spain's Sunrise', as it is the most easterly town on the Spanish mainland and the first point on the mainland where the sun can be seen rising.

Situated behind a wide bay and sheltered between two rocky headlands, the town has become a very popular small seaside resort and market town. Jávea is famous for its crystal clear waters, white sand beaches, lush green vegetation, blue skies and sun that shines almost every day of the year.

Jávea is protected from harsh winter winds of the north by the Montgó mountain and enjoys a unique micro-climate that the World Health Organisation named as one of the healthiest in the world and boasts 320 days of sunshine a year with an average temperature of 21 degrees!

The region is perfect for golfing, sailing, scuba diving, horse riding, walking, climbing, cycling, just to name a few.

The elegant city of Valencia and its famous historic buildings, museums and shopping centres is also only an hour away.

Javea

Jávea has long been the destination of choice for discerning visitors and offers so much more than sea, sun and sangria!

Since the 1970s Jávea / Xàbia has become a popular place for northern European holiday makers to rent villas and apartments and for affluent expatriates to purchase retirement villas. Whilst the old town of Jávea is still predominantly Spanish, the new town is also a very popular holiday destination for Spanish tourists in August and for long weekends at other times of the year.

Fiesta Fun - A Year Long Spectacle

Jávea's fiestas are a product of the zeal and passion with which the locals practice their deep and unshakable religiosity. To the casual observer, it would seem that the Jáveans take advantage of every excuse to throw a party. Jávea misses no opportunity to display the open and extroverted character of its inhabitants. There is at least one fiesta celebrated every month. During the summer months and the Christmas season, there seems to be one each day! (Please refer to our website Fiesta Calendar)

The town of Jávea consists of three centres, the Old Town (Pueblo), the Port (Puerto) and the beach area (Arenal) each with its own distinct identity.

Jávea Pueblo - The Old Town

The historic medieval town, set on a hill-side a couple of kilometres inland on the site of an Iberian walled settlement, the Pueblo preserves an interesting historic centre with typical narrow cobbled streets, white washed houses with iron barred windows, small pretty squares, stately buildings with arched doorways and large gothic windows... and plenty of excellent Tapas Bars & restaurants!

A beautiful Neo Gothic building houses the indoor market where you can buy local fresh produce: fruit, vegetables, meat and fresh fish is brought up from the port daily. The popular and colourful outdoor market takes place every Thursday in the Plaza de la Constitucion.

Jávea Puerto - The bustling port area

The origins of the port date back to the XV Century and is a typical fishing quarter with tiny quaint streets where small, one-storey houses predominate.

It is lively and bustling the whole year, with many shops, cafes, bars and restaurants offering the most traditional regional cuisine. Just the place to sit, relax, enjoy a glass of local wine and watch the fishing boats bring in the days catch.

The pretty beach and nearby marina have also retained much of the original charm of a traditional fishing village and has a market which sells the fresh produce from the fishing fleet when they arrive in port, usually twice a day.

Playa de Arenal - the main beach area

The Arenal beach, horse shoe shaped and located in the middle of the Jávea Bay, is the best known beach and the most visited by tourists and has something for everyone.

It has been consistently awarded the Blue Flag by the EU for its quality services and clear waters. This superb fine golden sandy beach stretches for half a mile and is surrounded by leafy palm trees, many restaurants and bars. It offers services such as umbrellas, sun beds, showers, volleyball and small motor boat and paddle-boat hire. It is the perfect place to stroll, shop or have a meal by the sea.

The Montgó Mountain is itself an experience for those who enjoy fresh air, exercise and beautiful nature. There are wonderful walks and views to be enjoyed both from Montgó Natural Park and from the mountain ranges a short drive away.

Almost every kind of water sport is available in Jávea, and for those who don't want to get their feet wet there are also many golf courses in the area, or if golf is not for you, then what about hill and mountain walking, horse-riding, tennis or cycling?

“A little oasis”

Reviewed 31 Aug 2015

The location was great and ideal for that much needed rest away from the hustle and bustle. If a little hustle and bustle needed the drive to town was only around 5/10 minutes away. There are a handful of good restaurants just a few minutes drive from the property with one in walking distance. All you need is provided by owners Jackie and Gary including an 'honesty bar'. The pool and grounds are beautifully maintained and very relaxing. A very good base to visit nearby beaches and towns. We would without hesitation return to this property in the knowledge of a warm welcome and comfortable stay.

“An absolute dream, highly recommended!!”

Finca Montgo was so much more than we could have ever hoped for, not only in a stunning location but also the perfect distance from the main parts of Javea. The accomendation is beautiful and done with great attention to detail. We stayed in the Los Establos guest room which was a delight due to its large comfy bed, spacious en-suite and a terrace that offers privacy and stunning views. You will find no better hosts than Jacki and Gary, they are extremely welcoming, very helpful and knowledgeable of the local area and Jacki does a superb traditional Spanish breakfast! If you are lucky enough to stay here we also recommend going on the sunset sail from Denia! Many thanks to Jacki and Gary, we can't wait for our next visit. Leon & Leah

There are good quality restaurants a short walk from the property whilst within a 10 minute drive is the beautiful town of Javea with abundant quality restaurants catering for all tastes. 10/10 absolutely no question !

Our stay exceeded our expectations. Finca Montgo is a beautiful place to stay and the hosts Jacki and Gary could not do more to make you feel welcome and cater for your every need. A special mention must be made to the gorgeous breakfast! We definitely hope to visit again and have already recommended FInca Montgo to family and friends.

“A Most Comfortable & Peaceful Stay”

Reviewed 27 May 2015

I enjoyed 7 most comfortable days in the Finca Apartment. The bed was very comfortable and large, with excellent bed linen. Plenty of hot water in the shower. Jacki's breakfasts were very good, I enjoyed the fresh fruit, fresh juice, pastries, preserves & coffee. All served to suit my schedule. The views are stunning. Both Gary & Jacki went out of their way to ensure that I was happy. I would love to stay again.

“Excellent stay with EXCELLENT people!”

Reviewed 26 May 2015

We stayed april 2015 for 10 days in Finca Montgo Javea. It was a very pleasant stay, that started every morning with a delicious breakfast and tips (and help) for our day tour. We enjoyed the apartment: Very nice, clean, own privacy and big enough for two with all the luxury and comfort and our own naya. The compound is perfect on the south: Nice wide view on the Spanisch landscape and the Montgo, tasteful garden with grass(!), surprising breakfast room with bar, good parking place etc. etc. We enjoyed the hospitality from Jacki & Gary and ........... we come back!

“Would go back in an instant!”

Reviewed 8 Nov 2014

We stayed at Finca Montgo the last week in September and the weather rather let us down, however, that didn't spoil our stay. The accommodation was excellent, convenient location, lovely property, great pool, I could go on. Superb breakfasts and excellent company at breakfast! The owners of this property were very warm and friendly, with lots of helpful advice about the area and places to visit or eat. However very discrete in their presence which made us feel very 'private'. I could ramble on but this was a very enjoyable stay, which exceeded our expectations in every way (and we are very fussy), we can't think of anything we could 'criticise', and will definitely visit again. Definitely recommend.

“Finca Lovely”

Reviewed 14 Oct 2014

Javea was hot and sunny in September this year, so staying at Finca Montgo with ac and the cooling swimming pool to top off the magnificent and healthy breakfasts worked out great. Being treated to great hospitality in a relaxed and comfortable surroundings was just what we needed.

“Splendid Accomodation”

Reviewed 8 Sep 2014

Looking for a relaxing and peaceful holiday break our friends recommended Finca Montgó which is situated approximately half way between Alicante and Valencia. While the location of Finca Montgó is in the Costa Blanca area it is actually located in a rural unspoilt area. Our week at Finca Montgó was beautiful and made complete by the splendid hospitality of our hosts Jacki and Gary who attended our every need. This tastefully renovated Finca, sympathetic to the traditions of the region boasts a very clean pool and bar area were breakfast is served every morning with a healthy diet in mind. This quiet location in the Javea area of northern Spain makes a splendid retreat for couples, friends or even singles with an apartment to suit most needs. We were made very welcome during our visit and the comfort and attention to detail was just right. Jacki and Garry’s knowledge of the local area is superb with great advice and tips. While we were made very welcome our privacy was respected too. Local dining at El Gaucho about 1Km down the road offered us a great choice of authentic South American steaks and for an Italian flavour we dined at La Quinta in Javea promenade, (only 5 Km away), where we had splendid Pizzas and good service. We certainly recommend a visit to the Wednesday market in Javea old town where many bargains of high quality can be found. Finca Montgó is certainly recommended to anyone who wants a quiet and peaceful holiday in this beautiful area of untouched Spain.

“A perfect holiday, in a perfect B&B with great people”

We stayed for one week at the lovely B&B Finca Montgo in Spain. From the moment we arrived till the moment we left we have felt at home. The owners Jacki and Gary give you this warm and relaxing holiday feeling. I travelled all over the world and this is one of these spots you will always remember and going back to. Room is very clean and looks great. Location of the finca is good and not far from Javea beach and village. I advise to take also the breakfast. It is great. The finca itself is fantastic with great pool. For me and my wife it have been some fantastic 7 days and we for sure go back to the finca Montgo!!!
