Location description from owner

The Valencian Country region

Jávea is one of the mediterranean's most attractive ports, not only because of its great beauty and location, but also because of its unsurpassed water sports facilities.

The yacht club, Club Nautico in the marina has nearly 300 berths and facilities for all types of water sports such as sailing, fishing, angling, deep-sea angling, windsurfing, canoeing, water-skiing, jet-skiing, scuba diving, scuba diving (standard diving dress) and snorkelling.

Jávea possesses more than 25km of varied coastline, the majority of which consists of towering cliffs and hidden, sandy bays accessible only by boat. Sea temperature averages 26°C during the summer months and never drops below 14°C even during mid-winter.

Scuba diving in Jávea is highly recommended and there are several excellent schools running PADI courses and diving trips.

Javea

ávea Pueblo - Jávea Old Town

Jávea old town is steeped in history. It is situated a mile or so inland because in days of yore the inhabitants of Jávea feared the incursions of marauding pirates. The old town hasn't changed much over the centuries and has retained many traditionally built houses around its typical Spanish squares.

Wander down the ancient narrow streets of the historic town centre of Jávea and admire the whitewashed buildings with stunning late gothic architectural features such as tosca sandstone porticoes, gothic bay windows and wrought iron balconies.

The Soler Blasco, an archaeological and ethnographical museum offers a wealth of information about the areas Iberian history.

Visit the gothic fortified church of San Bartolomé (Iglesia de San Bartolomé) in the church square (Plaza de la Iglesia) that dominates the centre of Jávea's town. Rich in medieval history, the building dates back to the 15th century.

By the side of the church lies a beautiful building which houses the local indoor market where you can buy local fresh produce daily, with its stalls full of fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and fish from the region.

Jávea Puerto - Jávea Port

The port of Jávea known as Aduanas de Mar has a fascinating charm that is hard to define and is many peoples favourite area of Jávea. The views across the bay are spectacular.

The port was built in 1871 and was once a shipping harbour for the export of raisins. After this trade was no longer in demand, the once large harbour diminished to a small fishing harbour.

Jávea Puerto has a real Spanish feel and still functions as a fishing port with yachts moored in the harbour. It is an area where locals live and work in harmony with the tourist elements. Enjoy the ambience of the port as the fishermen bring in their fresh daily catches and watch the sailing boats set off from the marina.

It is a lively bustling area which is popular with visitors and the promenade is lined with many boutiques, shops, pavement cafés, bars and open air terrace restaurants overlooking the mediterranean sea.

Jávea has many beautiful places with stunning views and interesting sights. A landmark of the port area is Santa Maria de Loreto church (Nuestra Señora del Loreto), built in 1967 with a very unusual design and well worth a visit. The ceiling of this church is shaped like a ship's hull and is dedicated to the patron saint of the fishermen of Jávea, La Virgen Santa de Loreto.

Playa de Arenal - The Arenal Beach, Jávea

Playa de Arenal is Jávea's spectacular beach area. Praised by the World Health Organisation for being environmentally near perfect, Jávea's blue flag Arenal beach lies at the southerly end of the town and is a very pleasant sea-front stroll from Jávea port.

This beautiful, sandy, sheltered bay is planted with palm trees and has play areas for children. It is ideal for families and groups as the beach is large and wide with shallow and calm waters where you can enjoy countless hours of sea and sun.

There are volleyball nets along the back of the beach which are very popular later in the day.

The bustling Arenal area is surrounded by an excellent choice of shops, boutiques, bars and restaurants offering local traditional Spanish food and national and international specialities.

It is a great place to walk along the promenade in the evening where you can view some of the most spectacular and vividly coloured sunsets.

During the evening in the summer months there are many delightful stalls selling a wide variety of handmade crafts.

Many local bars have live music and there are several popular discotheques.

The Surrounding Area

As one of the most popular towns in the region, Jávea is centrally located 100 km from Valencia in the north and 95 km from Alicante in the south and is an easy hours drive by car to these beautiful historic cities and their airports.

Families are advised to hire a car in order to make excursions from Villa Fuchsia to the numerous attractions and entertaining theme parks in the area.

The city of Valencia is a fantastic place to visit and well worth a trip, with its ancient buildings, museums and wonderful shopping centres. The islands of Ibiza and Majorca are just a ferry ride away with crossings leaving Denia harbour daily. Denia, is another unique Spanish costal town only a short drive through the picturesque mountains.

“Best Holiday ever.”

Reviewed 5 Jan 2014

we had the perfect holiday in august , coming from a grey and drizzly English weather and arriving at Alicante airport in a 27 degree sunny afternoon. arriving at villa fuchsia .What a wonderful place to spend our holiday time. The whole atmosphere of the place -the views, the sounds, the smell, were just so relaxing. We had all our meals outside, couldn't get enough of the stunning view of the mountain and hardly used our rental car because we didn't want to leave that lovely villa. the boys loved the table tennis , and the big pool was so lovely with the views was so sunning of the montgo mountain. We very much liked the way the villa is furnished, stylish and , home from home , it didn't feel like a rental place at all, more like a friend s house. Dee + peter, was extremely friendly and helpful, providing us with all the information that we needed. Javea is a lovely town, we very much liked the old town and the coastal area with lots of lovely views. We are certainly planning to spend another holiday at villa fuchsia soon.
