Description

Meadow View Gite is a beautiful rustic rural holiday cottage that has been modernised & renovated to keep all its charming original features whilst adding modern touches to provide a relaxing, enjoyable and comfortable family holiday. The cottage has 4 large bedrooms (2 Double and 2 Twin), with one of the twin rooms being a family room with a Double Sofa Bed and there is another Double Sofa Bed on the ground floor so the cottage can sleep up to 12 people. We can also provide a cot & highchair.

This cottage is one of two but each cottage is entirely private & self-contained, having its own patio terrace area with patio furniture and BBQ for alfresco dining. The two cottages share the heated in-ground pool and garden area, we have found after running the business for 5 years now that this works extremely well as the children from the two cottages make friends and entertain themselves allowing the parents time to relax and unwind, taking time out to read their book or listen to

There is large private garden that is completely secure for little ones with loads of room for them to run around and have loads of fun, we also have swings, football nets, badminton, swing ball and many other toys.

The location of the cottage is ideal for a relaxing family holiday, and it’s only a short drive to the supermarkets, cafes and restaurants. The local boulangerie is a short 5 minute drive away for the daily croissant run. We have plenty of brochures & leaflets in the cottage to inform you about the many attractions in the area, and we are always around for you to ask us our recommendations or directions. The lakes offer lovely beaches and watersports, and there are many picturesque towns & villages with an abundance of history. So whether you want to be relaxing by pool or something more energetic Meadow view can offer it all and is the perfect place for your holiday.

The heated pool is cleaned on a daily basis and the pool terrace area is equipped with rattan sun loungers, settees, chairs and tables. We do also have sun parasols to screen those with sensitive delicate skin. There are wonderful views from the terrace and garden and we can let you know about the many walks or cycle rides along the country lanes and through woodlands. There is a steam just down the lane from the cottage where you can play “pooh sticks” from the bridge or try a spot of fishing.

Wi-fi is free to use and the connection is available in the cottage and all around the pool terrace. UK Freeview TV and French TNT TV is available in the cottage and there is a DVD player & I dock.

“Fantastic holiday, all you could wish for.”

Reviewed 5 Aug 2013

Having travelled to this region of France before, we were still surprised by what a lovely setting our gite was in, Fabulous unspoiled views of the surrounding countryside one way, and a charming picture postcard village the other. Inside the gite we had another surprise, the pictures on the web site didn't do it justice, the rooms are lovely, with masses of space, which really helped, as we were a party of seven adults and only two children. The beds were really comfy, and we had lovely fluffy White bath towels. On arrival we had a lovely welcome by the owners Bryan and Jane, who had made us homemade Pizza and wedges, also a welcome basket, that had some basic supply's, which always helps. What I found really helpful was that the gite had initial supply's of toilet rolls, washing up liquid and cleaning products. During our stay we were lucky to have amazing weather and were able to utilise the pool often, I must say the pool was really lovely, as it wasn,t a salt water pool, like you find in some French gites, not forgetting that it overlooks an amazing view. The pool is shared with the owners and the other gite, but for us this was an advantage, as we were able to spend some lovely evenings with Bryan and Jane and our two children loved playing with theirs. We all enjoyed our Holiday at Meadow View, for a party with ages ranging from 76 to 7 including an older teenager, I think we hit the jackpot, and will definitely be returning next year. Thank You Bryan and Jane

“Wonderful Cottage, Lovely Area, Great Owners, Fantastic Holiday”

Reviewed 23 Mar 2013

We received warm welcome from the owners Jane & Bryan, and the complementary pizzas & potato wedges they made for our arrival was an incredible gesture and took the pressure off cooking on our first night after the drive down. The gite was a lot larger than we expected and the photos on the website don’t do it any justice, it is by far more outstanding and with all the equipment and comfort that is needed for a two week family holiday. The pool and terrace area was breath-taking, with amazing views across the rural countryside. The kids love splashing in the pool and it was very refreshing to cool off, on the very hot sunny days. The garden was all fenced off, so was very safe for the children and there was plenty for the kids to do with the trampoline, sandpit and swings. Jane and Bryan even provided a baby swing for our toddler which we felt was a very thoughtful touch. The various lakes with the beaches in the area provided the children with enjoyment and it just goes to show that you don’t need the go to the coast to build sandcastles! The towns and villages we visited gave us a wide insight in the French life. We had some lovely meals out and the ‘plat de jours’ give a taste of French cuisine and are extremely good value for money. The location is very relaxing and it’s the ideal holiday to unwind and take time out to enjoy a good book and spend time with the family. We would definitely recommend this gite to our friends and family, and we have already booked for August.

“Perfick!!!!”

Reviewed 5 Nov 2012

its all Perfick! As Pa Larkin would say from the Darling buds of May. From Start to finish everything was great! We got a friendly and genuine welcome from Brian, Jane and their children. A lovely welcome drink or two as well, which was a nice touch. We were home from home before you could say cheese and wine. The Property was clean, tidy and very well presented. Everything we needed was in the property and on the one occasion it wasn't Brian sorted it for us almost immediately. There isn't anything bad I can say about this place. The Property was excellent, Brian and Jane were lovely, the area is beautiful with lots to explorer and do. If I was being really picky then maybe a larger flat screen TV would of been nice for movies in the evening but I'm told this is being done anyway. We had our three small children with us. They loved the swimming pool and garden with lots for them to do. We will be returning soon. Many thanks Brian and Jane.

“Excellent Beautiful accomodation and setting”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2012

Last year we stayed in the recently renovated 4 bedroom Gite, which boasts good living space with neutral interior throughout and all the luxuries and basics you require when holidaying with your family. Myself, my husband and children enjoyed the swimming pool which had lots of space around for the Children to play and for us to relax and admire the rolling countryside around us. Whist we were there we visited lake Vassivere which has a beach and plenty of watersports. we visited lots of traditional French towns and villages during our stay and sampled lots of lovely French Pastries! Mr and Mrs Housely were a lovely couple who made us very welcome staying with them and we cant wait to go back to stay with them again this year.

“Lovely quiet location but plenty to do in the area”

Reviewed 19 Sep 2011

Lovely location on the edge of the village with great views over the fields. The children aged 7 and 11 loved the pool and the outdoor space. We would recommend visits to the Lake at Gueret, Lake Vassiviere and the Wolf Park. Friendly and helpful owners and will definitely visit again.

“peace & tranquility , fantastic scenery from your window ,friendly nice hosts”

I stayed in Meadow View for two months April/May 2011 while awaiting purchase of my own french property to be finalised ,If you dont know France this is the place to fall in love with it the scenery around every corner is breath taking , the Family are English and couldnt be more helpfull , jovial ,and friendly , for a family with young children it would be ideal as set in a quiet village with no through traffic ,you can fish in the meandering stream that passes through the village ,walk unhindered by traffic ideal if you have a dog as i did ,and the locals english & french couldnt be more friendly , the gite has chickens ,a turkey , wandering around typically french and nice to see, the accomodation was spotless , large airy rooms to spread around in , and full of country charm ,beams and wood burning stove which was great on a chilly night with a bottle of wine .
