Half board is available, and with the assistance of their local cook Marisa they will introduce you to the genuine Mediterranean diet, and the particular expression that it finds in Cilento. Marisa has her own small holding and when she is not helping Gianni and Alessandra she is out collecting the latest fruits and vegetables to come into season - the sign of a true Cilentan cook!

The organized excursions Gianna and Alessandra can recommend will naturally bring you into contact with the characters who comprise the local community - such is life in the South of Italy - and a warm Cilentano welcome is to be found wherever you go.

In the national park of Cilento, this spectacular place where the mountains meet the sea, we have created a perfect haven from which to explore the natural treasures of this land, marvel at its historic traditions and enjoy its delicious cuisine.

Location description from owner

The Campania region

Cilento is the largest national park in Italy and covers some 180,000 hectares. Its wild beauty has captured the imagination of poets since ancient times, and its features in the works of Homer and Virgil as the backdrop to their protagonists' sea voyages. The proximity of the coast to the Diano mountain range make Cilento one of the few places where one can find both inspiring trekking - taking in mountain springs and rare geology - to delightful days by the sea, either on a blue flag beach or in secluded coves accessible only by boat. Fishing, kayaking and horse riding are just some of the other outdoor activities the region is able to host, while any trip foraging will show how genuine the local cuisine really is combining wild fruits with home grown produce. In fact there always seems to be something growing - from delicious figs to mandarins to glossy chestnuts or enormous marrows - and this is testament to the mild climate you find in Cilento, equal to a British Summer's day even in March or October. People here are incredibly welcoming and do whatever they can to accommodate their guests and impart that unique warmth of character that typifies the South of Italy.

Ispani

Villa Cerreto is surrounded by pastures dotted with the odd small holding and tall eucalyptus trees. Torre Orsaia is the nearest town with a good trattoria and restaurant. The villa is an ideal base for visitors wishing to explore the Diano mountain range while staying within reach of the sea; Cape Palinuro and the Camerotta marina are about half an hour away by car. Boats trips depart from the harbour at Policastro and days trekking or horse riding can be arranged within the locality of the villa. A car is necessary to get around - please contact the villa for assistance organizing car rental in the area.
